Fencing-Club Tauberbischofsheim
The Tauberbischofsheim Fencing Club (in German ''Fecht-Club Tauberbischofsheim eingetragener Verein''; commonly known as ''FC Tauberbischofsheim e. V.'') is a fencing club based in Tauberbischofsheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Tauberbischofsheim fencers have earned more than 300 medals in international sporting events. History Prehistory On 12 October 1954 – at the initiative of Emil Beck at the "Gasthaus zum Schwanen" – a fencing division in the Club ''TSV 1863 Tauberbischofsheim e.V.'' was founded. First trainings were held in the auditorium of the old high school, later in the gym of the high school and the newly built festival hall in Tauberbischofsheim. In 1955 the first public club tournament was in the "Gasthaus zur Bretze". In 1958 the first fencing piste was purchased. Fencing
Fencing is a group of three related combat sports. The three disciplines in modern fencing are the foil, the épée, and the sabre (also ''saber''); winning points are made through the weapon's contact with an opponent. A fourth discipline, singlestick, appeared in the 1904 Olympics but was dropped after that and is not a part of modern fencing. Fencing was one of the first sports to be played in the Olympics. Based on the traditional skills of swordsmanship, the modern sport arose at the end of the 19th century, with the Italian school having modified the historical European martial art of classical fencing, and the French school later refining the Italian system. Sabine Bischoff (21 May 1958 – 6 March 2013) was a German fencer. Biography Sabine Bischoff fought for the Fencing-Club Tauberbischofsheim. She won a gold medal in the team foil at the 1984 Summer Olympics The 1984 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the XXIII Olympiad and also known as Los Angeles 1984) were an international multi-sport event held from July 28 to August 12, 1984, in Los Angeles, California, United States. Between 1979 and 1986 Bischoff won six medals at world championships in the same team foil event, including a gold in 1985; she lost the individual foil final in 1985 to her teammate Cornelia Hanisch. Biography Carolin Golubytskyi attended Riemenschneider-Realschule Tauberbischofsheim and the Kaufmännische Schule Tauberbischofsheim. Golubytskyi fought for the Fencing-Club Tauberbischofsheim. She is coached by her husband, Sergei Golubytskyi, a former world class fencer, 3 time consecutive World Champion, and Olympic silver medallist. Golubytskyi was part of the German team winning the bronze medal at the 2009 World Fencing Championships in Antalya, Turkey.
