Janie Shores
Janie Ledlow Shores (April 30, 1932 – August 9, 2017) was a judge on the Supreme Court of Alabama who was the first woman to ever serve on that court. Shores also was considered by President Bill Clinton in 1993 as a possible nominee to the United States Supreme Court. Early life and education A native of Butler County, Alabama, who grew up in Baldwin County, Alabama, Shores attended Judson College and earned a bachelor's degree from Samford University. She also graduated with honors with a law degree from the University of Alabama Law School in 1959. Shores earned an LLM degree from the University of Virginia in 1992. Professional career After graduating law school, Shores practiced law in Selma, Alabama, and also worked on the legal staff of the Liberty National Life Insurance Company from 1961 until 1965. Andree Layton Roaf
Andree Layton Roaf (March 31, 1941July 1, 2009) was an Arkansas lawyer and jurist. She was the first African-American woman to serve on the Arkansas Supreme Court, and is the mother of former NFL offensive lineman Willie Roaf. Biography Early life Andree Layton was born in Nashville, Tennessee. Her father, William W. Layton, was a civil rights official with the Urban League, Michigan Civil Rights Commission, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Federal Reserve Board, as well as a historian and lecturer. Carol Corrigan
Carol Ann Corrigan (born August 16, 1948) is an associate justice of the California Supreme Court. Background Corrigan, the daughter of a newspaperman and a homemaker, grew up in the San Joaquin Valley city of Stockton, California. She graduated from Saint Mary's High School in Stockton, and attended the Catholic, then women-only, Holy Names College in Oakland, graduating in 1970. After a brief stint in a graduate program in psychology, Corrigan enrolled at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where she served as Notes and Comments Editor of the ''Hastings Law Journal''. She received her Juris Doctor degree in 1975 and was admitted to the California bar the same year. Janice Rogers Brown
Janice Rogers Brown (born May 11, 1949) is an American jurist. She served as a United States federal judge, United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit from 2005 to 2017 and before that, Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court of California, Supreme Court from 1996 to 2005. She is a member of the Federalist Society and frequently features at events hosted by the organization. Her 2003 nomination by George W. Rose Elizabeth Bird (November 2, 1936 – December 4, 1999) was the 25th Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court. Her career was marked by firsts. She was the first female clerk of the Nevada Supreme Court, the first female deputy public defender in Santa Clara County, the first woman to serve in the California State Cabinet, and the first female Chief Justice of California. Barbara Womack Webb (born 1956 or 1957) is an American judge from Arkansas who is an associate justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court. Education Webb received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arkansas in 1979 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1982. Career Webb was elected to be the prosecuting attorney of the 7th and 22nd judicial districts of Arkansas.
