Felix Airways
Felix Airways Limited, also known as Al Saeeda, (both meaning "Happy," from the Roman term for Yemen, Arabia Felix) is a regional airline based in Sana'a, Yemen. History The airline was established in 2008 as a subsidiary of flag carrier Yemenia by the Islamic Bank for Development, to serve the growing market for low-cost travel in the region. In late October 2008, Felix Airways began domestic operations with CRJ 700 aircraft, and expanded both domestically and regionally. Operations have been severely disrupted since 2015 due to the ongoing military conflict affecting its hub at Sana'a International Airport. From 2015 the airline, in common with the entire Yemeni tourist industry, suffered a near-complete reduction in activity due to the conflict and the siege in the region; Felix Airways flights were reported (in April 2019) to have declined from 55 to only 3 weekly flights. Socotra Airport
Socotra Airport (Arabic:مطار سقطرى) is an airport in Socotra, Yemen . It is the only commercial airport that serves the Yemeni island of Socotra in the Arabian Sea and its capital town of Hadibu. Overview The most remote Yemeni airport, which was opened in 1999, has a weekly flight connecting the island with the mainland airport in Mukalla where an aircraft makes a technical stop on their route to Aden. The airport is located on the paved road that connects Hadibo on the northern coast with the main tourist attraction on the extreme west of the island, Qalansiyah beach. It takes about two hours to get from the airport to Qalansiyah. There is no scheduled transportation service between the airport and Hadibo, but it can be reached within a quarter of an hour by vehicle. Dammam ( ar, الدمّام ') is the fifth-most populous city in Saudi Arabia after Riyadh, Jeddah, Mecca, and Medina. It is the capital of the Eastern Province. Ataq
Ataq ( ar, عتق), alternately spelled Attaq, is a small city and the capital of Shabwah Governorate in Yemen. Ataq is 458 km south east of Sanaa. The difference in elevation of the city is about 70 m with generally partially flat topography with altitudinal variation in the range of 1120–1190 m.a.s.l. Its population was around 37,315 according to a 2004 census. On May 24, 1994, Ataq was seized by northern Yemeni forces. According to the Geo Names Database, Ataq is located at an altitude of 1146 metres. It is served by Ataq Airport; the landing strip is located to the north of the town. Armed forces loyal to exiled president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi captured Ataq from the Southern Transitional Council in August 2019. Riyan Airport
Riyan International Airport (also known as Riyan Mukalla International Airport) is an airport in Mukalla, Hadhramaut, Yemen. It is not to be confused with the former RAF Riyan, which is located closer to Mukalla. History The original airport was built around the 1930s. Flights were suspended in March 2015 as a result of the Yemeni civil war which led Al Qaeda militants to take advantage of the turmoil and control Mukalla. A no-fly zone over Yemen was imposed by the Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen, Saudi Arabian-led intervention due to the military conflict. Mukalla was later Battle of Mukalla (2016), liberated from Al Qaeda, but the airport remained closed until the Emirates Red Crescent funded the building of new terminals and renovated the old airport at a cost of AED 25 million. Mukalla ( ar, ٱلْمُكَلَّا, ') is a seaport and the capital city of Yemen's largest governorate, Hadhramaut. The city is in the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula on the Gulf of Aden, on the shores of the Arabian Sea, about east of Aden. It is the most important port in the Hadhramaut and the fifth-largest city in Yemen, with a population of approximately 500,000. The city is served by the nearby Riyan International Airport. Al-Hudaydah ( ar, الْحُدَيْدَة, al-ḥudayda), also transliterated as Hodeda, Hodeida, Hudaida or Hodeidah, is the fourth-largest city in Yemen and its principal port on the Red Sea. As of 2004, its population was 402,560 and it is the centre of the Al Hudaydah Governorate. Abha International Airport ( ar, مطار أبهـــا الدولي, ) is an airport in Abha, the capital of 'Asir Province in Saudi Arabia. The airport has services to several domestic airports within the Kingdom. It also offers international flights to Aden and Sana'a in Yemen, Cairo in Egypt, Doha in Qatar, and nonstop flights to Dubai and Sharjah in the UAE. The site was a new construction area between the cities of Khamis Mushait and Abha, and served both equally. Construction of the airport was started in mid-1975 by Laing Wimpey Alireza.
