Felicio Ramuth
Felicio Ramuth (born 11 November 1968) is a Brazilian politician who has served as List of governors of São Paulo, Vice Governor of São Paulo under Governor Tarcísio de Freitas since 2023. Elected in the 2022 São Paulo gubernatorial election, 2022 gubernatorial election, Ramuth previously served as Mayor of São José dos Campos from 2017 to 2022. Ramuth was a member of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB) until 2022, when he joined the Social Democratic Party (Brazil, 2011), Social Democratic Party (PSD). Early life and education Ramuth was born 11 November 1968 in the city of São Paulo to a Jewish family. 2016 Brazilian Municipal Elections
The Brazilian municipal elections of 2016 took place on 2 October 2016 and on 30 October 2016 (for cities with more than 200,000 voters, where the second round is available). Electors chose mayors, vice-mayors and city councillors of all 5,568 cities of the country. The partisan conventions took place between 20 July and 5 August. The party political broadcast started on 26 August and ended on 29 September. Until 2012, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays there was the broadcast for candidates to city halls, 30 minutes long. The broadcasts for candidates for city councils were broadcast on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, also 30 minutes long. At least 97 cities had only one candidate for mayor in these elections. Besides that, 48.8% of the cities of the country didn't have more than two candidates. Brazilian Jews
The history of the Jews in Brazil begins during the settlement of Europeans in the new world. Although only baptized Christians were subject to the Inquisition, Jews started settling in Brazil when the Inquisition reached Portugal, in the 16th century. They arrived in Brazil during the period of Dutch rule, setting up in Recife the first synagogue in the Americas, the Kahal Zur Israel Synagogue, as early as 1636. Most of those Jews were Sephardic Jews who had fled the Inquisition in Spain and Portugal to the religious freedom of the Netherlands. The Portuguese Inquisition expanded its scope of operations from Portugal to Portugal's colonial possessions, including Brazil, Cape Verde, and Goa, where it continued investigating and trying cases based on supposed breaches of orthodox Roman Catholicism until 1821.
