Feis Maitiú Corcaigh
Feis Maitiú Corcaigh is an International Festival Member of the British and International Federation of Festivals. The annual event is hosted at Fr Mathew Hall, a 400-seat auditorium in Cork city, Ireland. Feis Maitiú Corcaigh runs for nine weeks, throughout which almost 15,000 participants take to the stage to compete in a range of artistic disciplines. The festival takes place annually from the end of January to the start of April, with the various sections rotating annually within that time frame. Feis Maitiú Corcaigh is the second largest festival of its type in the world, second only to the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival. Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival
The Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival is one of Hong Kong's largest inter-school competitions, and is organized by the Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Association. Primary and secondary school students across Hong Kong deliver speeches in English and Chinese. The festival has been running for the past 65 years. It is known as one of the prime events in which primary through secondary school students have the chance to challenge themselves in spoken English. Schools see first hand the confidence gained and improvement in their students English through their participation in the event. Nyle Wolfe (born October 1971) is an Irish operatic baritone, who has sung with the Musiktheater im Revier in Germany and Opera Ireland. His first solo album ''Moodswings'' was released in Ireland in 2007. Cara O'Sullivan (1962 – 26 January 2021) was an Irish coloratura soprano singer. Background O'Sullivan grew up in The Lough, Cork. Both of her parents and her grandparents on both sides were singers, though not professionally. She is survived by 3 siblings, including sisters Aoife and Nuala. Edward Finbar Wright (born 26 September 1957), known popularly as Finbar Wright, is a popular music singer, songwriter, and poet from County Cork, Ireland. Dick Spring (born 29 August 1950) is an Irish businessman and former politician. He was a Labour Party Teachta Dála (TD) for the Kerry North from 1981 to 2002. He became leader of the Labour Party in 1982, and held this position until 1997. He served as Minister for the Environment (1982–83), Minister for Energy (1983–87) and Minister for Foreign Affairs (1993–Nov. 1994, Dec. 1994–97). Ria Mooney (1903 – 3 January 1973) was an Irish stage and screen actress, artistic director of the Abbey Theatre (1948-1963) and director of the Gaiety School of Acting. She was the first female producer at the Abbey Theatre. Life She was born in Rathmines, a suburb of Dublin.
