''Feels Like Breakin' Shit'', or ''Self...Feels Like Breakin' Shit'', is the third studio album by alternative pop/rock band Self, which was released for free via the internet. Its 17 previously unreleased tracks include covers of Prince's "Let's Pretend We're Married", Suzanne Vega's "Fat Man and Dancing Girl", and Tommy Roe's "Dizzy". "Moronic" parodies Alanis Morissette's "Ironic," and the Pixies' " Gigantic" is parodied by Self's "Titanic". Self (stylized as sElf) is an American alternative pop rock band from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The band is led by Matt Mahaffey. The band currently consists of Chris James (keyboards, piano, samplers, guitar, backing vocals), Mac Burrus (bass guitar, keyboards, horns, backing vocals), and Jason Rawlings (drums). "Dizzy" is a song originally recorded by Tommy Roe; it became an international hit single in 1969. Instrumental backing was provided by the Los Angeles session musicians known as the Wrecking Crew. Co-written by Roe and Freddy Weller, "Dizzy" was a major hit on both sides of the Atlantic, reaching number one on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100 for four weeks in March 1969, for one week on the UK Singles Chart in June 1969, and was number one in Canada in March 1969. Weezer is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1992. ''Subliminal Plastic Motives'' is the debut studio album from rock band Self, and is perhaps their most well-known release. The album was recorded entirely by Matt and his brother, Mike. The album found some modest success with MTV and flagship radio stations like KROQ-FM. Once the band was solidified, videos were made for "So Low" and "Cannon". The album was released by Spongebath Records and was immediately picked up by Zoo Entertainment (now Volcano Entertainment). Critical reception was very positive, with Mahaffey receiving praise for his cut-and-paste, eclectic take on rock music, and garnering comparisons to artists such as Beck and Beastie Boys. Many of Self's fans hold the album in high regard and most of the songs are now fan favorites. "Gigantic" is a song by the American alternative rock band Pixies, co-written by bassist Kim Deal and lead vocalist/guitarist Black Francis. The song appeared on the band's first full-length studio album, ''Surfer Rosa'', released in 1988. One of the longest songs on the album, "Gigantic" was released as the band's first single later that year. Featuring Deal on lead vocals, the song is one of Pixies' biggest hits and a crowd favorite at concerts, often played as the encore. Tommy Roe
Thomas David "Tommy" Roe (born May 9, 1942) is a retired American rock and pop singer-songwriter. Best-remembered for his hits "Sheila" (1962) and " Dizzy" (1969), Roe was "widely perceived as one of the archetypal bubblegum artists of the late 1960s, but cut some pretty decent rockers along the way, especially early in his career," wrote the AllMusic journalist Bill Dahl. Biography Roe was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, where he attended Brown High School. After graduating, he landed a job at General Electric soldering wires. Tommy Roe first recorded his original song "Sheila" in 1960 for Jud Phillips's Judd label.
