"Feed the Machine" is the second single by the American Christian rock band Red on their third full-length studio album ''Until We Have Faces''. The song was written by Anthony Armstrong, Joe Rickard, Rob Graves, Jasen Rauch and Mark Holman. The song was released on February 16, 2011, although it was sent to all the fans who submitted their faces as part of the hype for the new album on December 9, 2010. Background and production The song is the opening track from ''Until We Have Faces''. Guitarist Anthony Armstrong expounded on the song in an interview with Noisecreep: "It's us pointing a sarcastic finger at ourselves and at the people that have let the world define them," he said. "It's this 'give up, give up, you've already fed the machine' – all those things in the world that are negative, all those things that don't have any effect on us that can be inspiring." Red (stylized as R3D or RED) is an American Christian rock band from Nashville, Tennessee, formed in 2002 by brothers guitarist Anthony Armstrong and bassist Randy Armstrong, with lead vocalist Michael Barnes. The band's first lineup also consisted of drummer Andrew Hendrix and guitarist Jasen Rauch. Currently, the line-up has consisted of the core trio of the Armstrong brothers and Barnes, along with touring drummer Brian Medeiros. Until We Have Faces
''Until We Have Faces'' is the third studio album by American Christian rock band Red. It was released on February 1, 2011 through Essential Records and Sony Records. It was produced by Rob Graves. It is the first album the band released with four members, due to the absence of Jasen Rauch (although Rauch still contributed to songwriting). Production and recording The band released a teaser video on Facebook via YouTube featuring the band name on a sheet of parchment, which burned away, revealing the album title. Unfortunately the music in this teaser video was not in any song on the album. Vocalist Michael Barnes stated on his Facebook page that the new album will be produced by Rob Graves, who also produced the first two albums. Joe Rickard
Joe Rickard is an American drummer, record producer and mixing engineer. He was the drummer for the band Red from 2008 through 2014 and Swedish heavy metal band In Flames from 2016 through 2019. He then began primarily writing, mixing and producing, often working with music producer Howard Benson. Biography Rickard started drumming at the age of 13. At the age of 17, when he was in high school, he started playing music professionally. He was auditioned by a band called Sky Harbor and left his home and highschool to pursue his musical career. Jasen Rauch
Jasen Ryan Rauch () (born April 24, 1981) is an American musician, songwriter and record producer. He is the current lead guitarist of the rock band Breaking Benjamin and was the former lead guitarist of the Christian rock band Red. Rauch was also the producer for Korn guitarist Brian Welch's solo project, Love and Death, before becoming the band's bassist in 2020. According to Welch, Rauch "has a great track record for recording, producing, writing, and being in a band", and credits him as an inspiration for his returning to music.
