Federico Uribe
Federico Uribe (born 1962) is a Colombian artist living in Miami, Florida. Biography Federico Uribe pursued his bachelor's at the University of Los Andes. In 1988, he left Colombia and moved to New York where he would study a master in fine arts degree. Throughout those years he was guided by Luis Camnitzer, who taught him essential skills that Federico would later own use for his personal artworks. After years of studying and practicing, Federico has also lived in Cuba, Mexico, Russia, England and Miami where he is currently based. The connection that Federico has with words has led his art to follow that certain word that comes up to his mind, and the process of creating art and the outcome would be extremely defined by it. And sometimes the association among the used objects and the meaning of the sculpture will end transmitting ironic, benevolent provocation. Luis Camnitzer
Luis Camnitzer (born November 6, 1937) is a German-born Uruguayan artist, curator, art critic, and academic who was at the forefront of 1960s Conceptual Art. Camnitzer works primarily in sculpture, printmaking, and installation, exploring topics such as repression, institutional critique, and social justice. For over five decades, his practice has explored the psychological and political dimensions of language. Early life and education Luis Camnitzer was born in Lübeck, Germany in 1937 and moved to Montevideo, Uruguay in 1939. In 1953, he studied at the University of Montevideo's Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, where he concentrated on sculpture and architecture. The Bass Museum of Art is a contemporary art museum located in Miami Beach, Florida. The Bass Museum of Art was founded in 1963 and opened in 1964. History Early years John Bass (1891-1978) and Johanna Redlich (m. Feb. 21, 1921) were Jewish-immigrants from Vienna, Austria who resided in Miami Beach. As President of the Fajardo Sugar Company of Puerto Rico, John Bass was also an amateur journalist, artist (namely painting and etching) and composer of published music. Mr. Bass collected both fine art and cultural artifacts, including a sizeable manuscript collection that now lives in the Carnegie Hall Archives.
