Federal Polytechnic, Mubi
Federal Polytechnic, Mubi is a polytechnic based in Mubi, Adamawa State, northeastern Nigeria. The Federal Polytechnic, Mubi is one of the seven Federal Polytechnics established by Decree No. 33 of 1979. It opened in August of the same year as the Federal Polytechnic, Yola, on the rocky side of the north bank of Benue River. Following a Presidential directive, the Polytechnic was relocated to Mubi in October 1982 but still maintain its site in Yola as Consultancy Services Unit. In Mubi the institution inherited the building of the defunct Federal School of Arts and Sciences. At present the infrastructures so inherited are being renovated and refurbished to suit Polytechnic requirement. More recently however, complete new science and engineering laboratories, workshops and studio have sprung up with heavy machines telling the tales of modem technology. Mubi (town)
Mubi is a town in Northern Senatorial District of Adamawa State, northeast Nigeria. It is subdivided into two. Mubi north and Mubi south Demographics The major tribes of the town are Fali, Gude, Kamwe, Margi and Mundang (Godo-godo). Education Mubi has three higher institutions of learning: Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, College of Health Technology (Mubi Campus), and Adamawa State University, Mubi. Boko Haram takeover Some media outlets said that the city was renamed to ''Madinatul Islam'', meaning ''city of Islam'' by jihadist group Boko Haram in October 2014 when they captured the town under their control. In November 2014, the Nigerian Army took back control of Mubi from Boko Haram. Adamawa State governor Bala James Ngilari said government forces had recaptured the town from Boko Haram. Adamawa State
Adamawa state () is a state in the North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered by Borno to the northwest, Gombe to the west, and Taraba to the southwest, while its eastern border forms part of the national border with Cameroon. Benue River
The Benue River (french: la Bénoué), previously known as the Chadda River or Tchadda, is the major tributary of the Niger River. The river is approximately long and is almost entirely navigable during the summer months. The size of its basin is . As a result, it is an important transportation route in the regions through which it flows. On the night of 1-2 October 2012, a group of armed men attacked a student residence of Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, Adamawa State, eastern Nigeria, killing at least 25 men.
