The Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze is a Nigerian technical tertiary institution located in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. It is affiliated to Nnamdi Azikiwe University for its degree programmes. Theresa Obumneme Okoli is the 4th substantive provost of Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze. On 17 May 2018, she was appointed by the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, to replace the acting provost of the college, Dr. Cicilia Nonye Ibekwe. Early life and education Theresa was born to the Aniagboso family in Okpuifite village, Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area, Anambra State. Umunze
Umunze is the headquarters of Orumba south local government area in Anambra state of Nigeria. Its geographic coordinates are 5° 58′ 0″ north, 7° 13′ 0″ east. History The name Umunze was derived from the name of the originator "Nze" meaning the descendant of Nze in about 1476 during the time of extreme drought. Nze Izo Ezema was a farmer and hunter from ohafia near Arochukwu in the present day Abia State. He wandered the forest of his normal hunting and discoveries when he came across a very fertile land full of arable crops and he liked it. Mathias Nwafor Ugochukwu (1926–1990) was a prominent Nigerian businessman from Anambra State.
