Fedamore GAA
Fedamore GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Fedamore, County Limerick, Ireland. The club fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. The club has won the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship on two occasions in 1912 and 1927. Location The club is located in the parish of Fedamore which is 15km south of Limerick City. It is a member of the East division and neighbouring clubs include Ballybricken/Bohermore, Camogue Rovers, Crecora/Manister and South Liberties with whom Fedamore once had a close rivalry. History The club was founded in 1884 making it one of the oldest GAA clubs in the county. Paddy Clohessy
Patrick Clohessy (16 April 1908 – 6 August 1971) was an Irish sportsperson and politician. He played hurling for his local club Fedamore and at senior level for the Limerick county team from 1928 until 1940. He later became a Fianna Fáil politician. Playing career Club Clohessy played club hurling with his local club in Fedamore. His brothers, Dave, Andy and Jack, also played for Fedamore. He won his sole senior county title with the club in 1927. Inter-county Clohessy first came to prominence on the inter-county scene as a member of the Limerick senior hurling team in 1928. At that stage Limerick were down the pecking order in terms of the top teams in the Munster Championship. All this changed in 1933 when Limerick defeated the reigning provincial champions of Clare, giving Clohessy his first Munster title. Tom Shinny
Thomas Shinny (1899 – 8 May 1963) was an Irish hurler who played as a goalkeeper for the Limerick senior team. Born in Fedamore, County Limerick, Shinny first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-five when he first linked up with the Limerick senior team. He made his senior debut during a tournament game in 1925. Shinny went on to enjoy a lengthy inter-county career, and won one All-Ireland medal and one National Hurling League medal. Shinny represented the Munster inter-provincial team at various times, winning two Railway Cup medals on the field of play and a third as a substitute. At club level he won one championship medal with Fedamore. His retirement from inter-county hurling came following the conclusion of the 1935–36 National Hurling League. Dave Clohessy
David Stanislaus Clohessy (13 November 1905 – 16 November 1986) was an Irish hurler who played for his local club Fedamore and at senior level for the Limerick county team in the 1920s and 1930s. In the 1934 All-Ireland final replay, he scored four goals against Dublin, a record that lasted beyond his death. His brothers, Paddy, Andy and Jack, who predeceased him, also played for Fedamore. Willie Gleeson
William Joseph Gleeson (1893 – 18 November 1975) was an Irish people, Irish hurling, hurler who played as a midfielder for the Limerick GAA, Limerick senior team. Career Gleeson made his first appearance for the team during the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1915, 1915 championship and became a regular player over the next decade. Limerick Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Limerick Intermediate Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition organised by the Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association for the third tier hurling teams in the county of Limerick in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at the Gaelic Grounds in October. The championship includes a group stage which is followed by a knock-out phase for the top teams. There is also promotion involving the Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship. The Intermediate Championship is an integral part of the wider Munster Junior Club Hurling Championship. Croom
Croom () is a village in County Limerick, Ireland. It is located just off the N20 (which has bypassed the town since 2001) on the River Maigue. It is 8 km southeast of Adare on the N20. History Cromadh (now Croom) was a village in the territory of the Uí Fidgenti, and one of the seats of the O’Donovans of the Ui Fidgheinte, which flourished from the late 4th century to the mid 12th century. A hermitage, Dísert Óengusa, was founded nearby by Óengus of Tallaght around the year AD 780. The townland is located on the River Maigue, which although now having a tidal flow only to Adare, in ancient years the river had a tidal flow past Croom, making it a transit route for the Viking ships traversing inland from the Shannon during the 9th and 10th centuries. Glenroe Hurling Club is one of the oldest clubs affiliated to the Gaelic Athletic Association. It plays hurling and formerly gaelic football. It plays in competitions organized by Limerick GAA. Located in the Ballyhoura Mountains, County Limerick, Ireland, local parish teams played hurling games from long before the famine of the 1840s and local teams played before the GAA's foundation. South Liberties (Irish: ''Saor Theas'') is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in County Limerick, Ireland. The club is based in the parish of Donoughmore-Knockea-Roxboro, on the southern outskirts of Limerick City and is affiliated to the East Board of Limerick GAA. It is one of the oldest clubs in the country, founded in 1884, the same year as the GAA. South Liberties' home ground in Ballysheedy is called Dooley Park, in memory of one of the club's greatest players.
