February 2022 San Francisco Special Election
The February 2022 San Francisco special election (formally, the ''February 15, 2022, Consolidated Special Municipal Election'') was held on February 15, 2022, in San Francisco. The races on the ballot include assessor-recorder; and three ballot measures to recall members of the school board. Some voters in this election also voted in the special primary election for the 17th State Assembly district on the same ballot. 2022 San Francisco Board Of Education Recall Elections
The 2022 San Francisco Board of Education recall elections (also called the San Francisco school board recall elections) were held on February 15, 2022. Voters had the option to remove each of three San Francisco Board of Education (School Board) Commissioners—Alison Collins, Gabriela Lopez, and Faauuga Moliga—from office. Lopez was president of the board at the time, while Collins and Moliga had served as vice president previously. All three commissioners were removed with landslide results, and were replaced by appointees chosen by mayor London Breed. London Nicole Breed (born August 11, 1974) is an American politician who is the 45th and current mayor of the City and County of San Francisco. She was supervisor for District 5 and was president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, Board of Supervisors from 2015 to 2018. Alison M. Collins (born 1969/1970) is a former commissioner of the San Francisco Board of Education. She served on the board from January 7, 2019 until her recall election of February 15, 2022, when she was ousted by 76% of the vote, the largest of all three commissioners recalled on that date. Along with two other commissioners, Collins became the first member of the school board to be recalled in the history of San Francisco, and the first recalled San Francisco official in over a century, since ouster of State Senator Edwin Grant in 1914.
