Feadship
Feadship (First Export Association of Dutch Shipbuilders) is a cooperative venture between two shipyards Royal Van Lent Shipyard and Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw. Feadship designs and constructs high-end luxury yachts and is one of the leading builders of custom superyachts such as ''Aquarius'', ''Symphony'', ''Savannah'' and ''Venus''. History Feadship can trace its roots back to 1849, when the Akerboom family bought a small shipyard off the coast of the Netherlands to build and repair boats. They joined with the Van Lent family in 1927, and then in 1949 they founded Feadship together with the De Vries, another family-based shipyard, to form Feadship. Feadship has four shipyards: Two owned by Koninklijke De Vries in Aalsmeer and Makkum. Two owned by Royal Van Lent in Amsterdam and one on the island of Kaag. Symphony (yacht)
Symphony is a yacht owned by Bernard Arnault. At the time of its completion in 2015, Symphony was the longest yacht ever built in the Netherlands. Symphony was built by Feadship. As of 2015, the , six-deck “Symphony” luxury super yacht was the largest Feadship had ever built, and the first Feadship to cross the 100-metre mark. Designed to carry 20 passengers in 8 cabins and with a crew of 38 in 16 cabins, it complied with the Passenger Yacht Code. Symphony has a glass-bottom swimming pool on the main deck, an outdoor cinema on the bridge deck, and a jacuzzi on the sun deck. ''Venus'' is a super yacht designed by Philippe Starck's design company Ubik and built by Feadship for the entrepreneur Steve Jobs at a cost of €105 million. Jobs died in October 2011, a year before the yacht was unveiled. History ''Venus'' was unveiled 28 October 2012 at the Feadship shipyard. The yacht was named for the Roman goddess of love. The yacht was impounded 21 December 2012 at the Port of Amsterdam following a payment dispute: Starck claimed Jobs' heirs owed him €3 million of his €9 million fee for the project.
