Fazal-ur-Rehman (politician)
Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman ( ur, مولانا فضلُرحمٰن; born 19 June 1953) is a Pakistani Islamic fundamentalist politician who is the president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F). He is also the president of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), a coalition of political parties which ousted then prime minister Imran Khan through a no-confidence motion in 2022. He was a member of the National Assembly between 1988 and 2018, and the Leader of the Opposition from 2004 to 2007. He is a supporter of the Taliban government in Afghanistan and has demanded for its international recognition. In the 1980s, he was part of the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy (MRD), which was formed to end the military regime of General Zia-ul-Haq. Rehman is a pro-Taliban politician, known for his close ties to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Fazal ur Rehman Khalil ( ur, ) is a founder of ''Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM)'' and current leader of '' Ansar-ul-Umma'', which is accused of being a front organization of the banned HuM. He also runs the ''Jamia Khalid Bin Walid'', a madrasa or Islamic seminary located in the Shams Colony of Islamabad’s Golra town which has been accused of supporting the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan. Fazlur Rahman Malik ( ur, ; September 21, 1919 – July 26, 1988), commonly known as Fazlur Rahman, was a modernist scholar and Islamic philosopher from today's Pakistan. Fazlur Rahman is renowned as a prominent liberal reformer of Islam, who devoted himself to educational reform and the revival of independent reasoning (''ijtihad''). His works are subject of widespread interest and criticism in Muslim-majority countries. He was protested by more than a thousand clerics, faqihs, muftis, and teachers in his own country and banished. Fazlur Rahman ( bn, ফজলুর রহমান, ur, فضل الرحمٰن; 1905–1966) was a Bengali politician and lawyer. He was the first Education Minister of Pakistan and a member of the 1st and 2nd National Assemblies of Pakistan. Early life and education Fazlur Rahman was born in 1905, to an Urdu-speaking Bengali Muslim family in the village of Shinepukur, Dohar, Dhaka. He studied at Bharga High School and later obtained a Master of Arts degree in history in 1929. In 1933, he earned a BL degree. Career After completing his education, Fazlur Rahman initially started in the law sector but participated in social work and politics. Fazlur Rahman Faridi (2 April 1932, Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, India – 25 July 2011, Aligarh, India) was an Islamic studies scholar, economist and a writer on Islam and contemporary Issues.
