Fauvism /ˈfoʊvɪzm̩/ is the style of ''les Fauves'' (French language, French for "the wild beasts"), a group of early 20th-century modern artists whose works emphasized painterly qualities and strong colour over the Representation (arts), representational or Realism (visual arts), realistic values retained by Impressionism. Fauve collective, sometimes stylized as FAUVE, is a French arts collective of music and videography established in 2010 in Paris. The band also uses the not equal to sign ≠. The act depends mostly on story telling through acting, through spoken word and musical accompaniment. The collective has its own record label called FAUVE CORP. FAUVE presents itself as an open collective, containing at times more than twenty members (musicians, but also comedians, theatre technicians, visual artists). On stage, the collective is represented by five musicians (vocals, guitar, bass, drums and keyboards) and a video artist. The Fauves are an Australian rock band formed in 1988. The band are known for their witty lyrics, melodic pop-rock and often satirical or evocative exploration of Australian themes. Their album '' Future Spa'' was nominated for Best Alternative Album in the 1997 ARIA awards but lost to Spiderbait's ''Ivy and the Big Apples''. They played at the Big Day Out in both 1993 and 1997. In 2007, they played their 1,000th Show and in 2008 they celebrated their 20th Anniversary Gig at The Espy in Melbourne. History The Fauves were formed in 1988 by four students of Mt Eliza High School, Mornington Peninsula. Fauve Hautot (born 3 March 1986) is a French dancer and choreographer. Early life Fauve Hautot was born in Dieppe. Her father was an accountant with a passion for dance, and her mother was a dance teacher. She has a younger sister, Calliope, and an older brother, Ashley. She grew up in the village of Saint-Vaast-Dieppedalle (Seine-Maritime). Her name means "wildcat" or "big cat" in French. Her parents chose the name Fauve "after seeing the series Mistral's Daughter, in which a heroine is named Fauve". As the age of 5, she began dancing Latin dances with her brother. The Basset Fauve de Bretagne is a short-legged hunting breed of dog of the scent hound type, originally from Brittany, a historical duchy of France. Description Appearance The Basset Fauve de Bretagne is a smallish hound, built along the same lines as the Basset Hound, but lighter all through and longer in the leg. Wire-coated, the coat is very harsh to the touch, dense, red-wheaten or fawn. They measure 32 – 38 cm in height and weigh between 36 - 40 lbs but due to the historically controversial practice of registering mixed litters of Griffon and Basset Fauves, sometimes a litter of bassets will produce dogs with long legs. They have coarse, dense fur which may require stripping. Although their coat repels dirt and does not mat easily, they still require weekly combing and brushing.
