Faulknor Family
The Faulknor family was an English family from Northamptonshire, of which several generations served as officers in the Royal Navy. William Faulknor William Faulknor (d. 25 February 1725) first appears as fourth lieutenant of the '' Royal William'' in 1695. On 17 March 1707, he was promoted to the rank of captain, and given command of the 80-gun ship of the line . He afterwards commanded a frigate, and in 1715 was appointed to command of the 80-gun , flagship of Admiral Sir John Norris, commander of the Baltic fleet. In 1720 he commanded the 90-gun ship . Jonathan Faulknor The Elder
Jonathan Faulknor (fl. 1744 – 24 June 1795) was an officer of the Royal Navy who served during the Seven Years' War, the American War of Independence, and the French Revolutionary Wars, in a career which spanned fifty years. The son of a distinguished naval officer, Jonathan Faulknor continued the family tradition and forged a career in the navy. He was made an officer prior to the Seven Years' War and commanded his first ships before it ended. His service was punctuated by periods without command of a ship, and times as captain of guardships. Nevertheless, he was able to impress his superiors with his services, including his cool handling of a crisis when his ship ran aground off Cork. He was back in command of ships during the American War of Independence, and was flag captain to Admiral Keppel at the battle of Ushant in 1778. Robert Faulknor The Younger
Robert Faulknor the younger (1763–1795) was an 18th-century Royal Navy officer, part of the Faulknor naval dynasty. He was court-martialled (but acquitted) and died in an action off Guadeloupe in the eastern Caribbean Sea. Life Early life He was born on the coast of Hampshire, the eldest of the two sons of Robert Faulknor captain of HMS Bellona, and his wife, Elizabeth Ashe. His paternal grandfather had served as flag captain under Admiral John Balchen on HMS Victory the predecessor to its more famous namesake and went down with his ship and 100 men in a shipwreck on 4 October 1744. His great grandfather had served his life at sea then ended as Lt Governor of Greenwich Hospital. Sometime after that the family moved to Dijon, France, where they stayed until Robert the elder died there on 9 May 1769, when his widow and the children returned to Southampton. Kennedy Jade Faulknor (born June 30, 1999) is a Canadian soccer player who plays as a centre-back for Minnesota Aurora. In 2015, she represented the Canadian national team, where, at the age of 16, she was the youngest centre-back to ever play for Canada. Early life Born in Scarborough, to a Jamaican father and a Canadian mother, she grew up in nearby Markham. Faulknor began playing youth soccer with the Unionville Milliken SC at age five, playing rep since age eight. Faulknor Class Leader
The ''Faulknor'' class were a class of flotilla leaders that were under construction in the United Kingdom for the Chilean Navy at the outbreak of World War I. Six ships were ordered by Chile, of which the first two (''Almirante Lynch'' and ''Almirante Condell'') were delivered to Chile before the outbreak of the war. The remaining four ships were purchased by the British, taken over and completed for the Royal Navy for wartime service.
