Fatimah Lateef
Fatimah binte Abdul Lateef ( Jawi: فاطمه بنت عبداللتايف; born 16 March 1966) is a Singaporean former politician. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), she was the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Geylang Serai ward of Marine Parade GRC between 2006 and 2020. Education Fatimah had her early education at CHIJ Opera Estate (now CHIJ (Katong) Primary), CHIJ Katong and Temasek Junior College. She then went on the National University of Singapore, where she completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the Faculty of Medicine. She subsequently obtained an FRCS (A&E) from the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh as well as sub-specialisations in Emergency Cardiovascular and Neurovascular care and Prehospital care Medicine from the Medical College of Virginia and the University of Cincinnati. The Marine Parade Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) located in the central, eastern and north-eastern areas of Singapore. The constituency consists of a section of Bedok, Chai Chee, Geylang, Kaki Bukit, Kallang, Kembangan, Marine Parade, Mountbatten, Ubi, Serangoon and Hougang. 2006 Singaporean General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on 6 May 2006. President of Singapore, President S.R. Nathan dissolved parliament on 20 April 2006 on the advice of Prime Minister of Singapore, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong three weeks before the election. The People's Action Party (PAP) won 66.6% of the overall votes and gained 82 out of 84 seats. The PAP held the office of Prime Minister for a twelfth consecutive term. The general election was held under the first-past-the-post system. On Nomination Day, the PAP gained 37 seats in divisions which were uncontested by other parties. Singapore General Hospital
Singapore General Hospital (SGH) is an academic health science centre and tertiary referral hospital in Singapore. It is located next to the Bukit Merah and Chinatown districts of the Central Region, close to the Outram Community Hospital (OCH), which functions as a supplementary community and rehabilitation hospital to SGH for newly-discharged patients. There is also the Outram Polyclinic to complement outpatient care. All of these institutions are operated by SingHealth, which comes under the purview of the Ministry of Health (MOH).
