''Father Brown'' (German: ''Pater Brown'') is a West German mystery television series which aired between 1966 and 1972 on ARD.Compart p.303 It is based on the Father Brown stories of British writer G.K. Chesterton, about a crime-solving Catholic priest. The title role was played by the Austrian actor Josef Meinrad. Ernst Fritz Fürbringer had a recurring role as Inspector Gilbert Burns in 19 episodes, while Guido Wieland played another police officer Inspector Evans in 10 episodes. The first two series were shot in monochrome, before production then switched to colour. Michael Hinz
Michael Hinz (28 December 1939 – 6 November 2008) was a German actor. Life and career Hinz came from an acting family, his parents were Werner Hinz and Ehmi Bessel, both actors, as well as his brother Knut and half-sister Dinah. After growing up in Berlin and Hamburg, Hinz had his first theatrical role in 1958 in Terence Rattigan's '' The Sleeping Prince'' at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg. A year later, he starred in his first film, ''Die Brücke'', which won the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film and was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar at the 32nd Academy Awards. Karl John (24 March 1905 – 22 December 1977) was a German film actor who appeared in more than 50 films between 1933 and 1977. Early life John was born in Cologne, Germany. He studied architecture at the Technische Hochschule in Danzig. But he soon discovered his love for the stage and moved to Berlin where he took acting lessons.
