Father's Son (1931 Film)
''Father's Son'' is a 1931 American Pre-Code Hollywood, pre-Code melodrama film which was produced by Warner Bros. in 1930 and released early in 1931. The movie is based on the original film scenario ''Old Fathers and Young Sons'' by Booth Tarkington. The film is also known by the name "Boy of Mine." Leon Janney was being groomed as a child star by Warners, and this film was the one of several he starred in. His career, however, never took off, and in late 1931 he was released from his contract. Robert North
Robert North (February 2, 1884 – August 13, 1976) was an American vaudeville performer who became a success as a stand-up comedian. Later he became a prolific motion picture producer. Early years Bobby North was born in New York City. He joined a vaudeville company at the age of twelve as a boy balcony singer. As North explained, "... there was a vogue of a soubrette, as we called her, singing on the stage, and a kid would get up from the gallery and sing the chorus. The Gallery Gods, of course, thought he was one of them and applauded loudly. I was the kid in the gallery. I had the voice and I could sing." North traveled around the US with the company playing in small town opera houses or theaters for one- or two-night stands. He developed a song and dance act. A lost film is a feature or short film that no longer exists in any studio archive, private collection, public archive or the U.S. Library of Congress. Conditions During most of the 20th century, U.S. copyright law required at least one copy of every American film to be deposited at the Library of Congress at the time of copyright registration, but the Librarian of Congress was not required to retain those copies: "Under the provisions of the act of March 4, 1909, authority is granted for the return to the claimant of copyright of such copyright deposits as are not required by the Library."
