Father's Children
Father's Children is an American funk band, that was formed in the late 1960s and rose to fame in the mid-to late 1970s. The group was initially formed as a doo-wop trio in Adams Morgan, Washington, D.C. under the name The Dreams, but evolved into a funk and soul band. In 1973 they were set to release their debut album ''Who's Gonna Save the World'', but their management company folded and the band was unable to find a record label. In 1979, they released their self-titled debut album under the record label Mercury Records. The album was produced by Wayne Henderson, formerly of The Crusaders, and co-produced by Augie Johnson of the group Side Effect. The group spent three months in Los Angeles recording at Ocean Way Studios, with Henderson adding a host of other musicians to the recording, such as keyboardists Bobby Lyle and Dean Gant. The Crusaders (jazz Fusion Group)
The Crusaders (formerly known as The Jazz Crusaders) were an American jazz group that was successful from the 1960s to the 1990s. The group was known as the Jazz Crusaders from their formation in 1960 until shortening their name in 1971. The Crusaders were comfortable playing a wide assortment of genres, from straight ahead jazz, to urban R&B, to R&B-based jazz, to even blues. The band reached a commercial apex in 1979 with their hit single " Street Life", featuring lead vocals by Randy Crawford, and their accompanying album of the same name. Shante Scott Franklin (born April 4, 1981), better known by his stage name Currensy (often stylized as Curren$y), is an American rapper. In 2011, he founded the label Jet Life Recordings. It was released as a promotional single on New Year's Eve 2015, marking his first solo release since 2015's " All Day" – West released " Only One" on New Year's Eve the previous year, but that was released as an actual single and not a promotional one. The song was later released on West's seventh studio album ''The Life of Pablo'' (2016) as "Facts (Charlie Heat Version)". The song is a diss track aimed at footwear company Nike. Robert Lyle (born March 11, 1944) is a jazz pianist/organist and educator. Early life Lyle was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on March 11, 1944 to parents Robert and Elise Lyle. He grew up in a musical household after the family moved from Memphis to Minneapolis when Lyle was age 1. He showed an early aptitude for music with his mother, a church organist, being his first piano teacher when he was aged just six years old. By junior high school he was playing clarinet and flute in the band as well as continuing piano lessons.
