Faster Pussycat (album)
''Faster Pussycat'' is the first album by the band of the same name. The album reached number 97 on the Billboard 200 chart. Videos were made for several of the songs on the album, including "Don't Change That Song", which had a video directed by Russ Meyer. The song "Babylon" featured scratching by one time club DJ Riki Rachtman. Riki was Taime Downe's roommate and together they opened the nightclub Cathouse The band performed "Cathouse" and "Bathroom Wall" in the film '' The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years'', and they were interviewed in the segment as well. The album was reissued on CD by UK-based company Rock Candy Records, with expanded liner notes and photos. Faster Pussycat
Faster Pussycat is an American hard rock/glam metal band from Los Angeles, formed in 1985 by vocalist Taime Downe, guitarists Brent Muscat and Greg Steele and bassist Kelly Nickels. The group has since gone through numerous lineup changes leaving Downe as the only constant member. They broke up in 1993, but reformed in 2001. Faster Pussycat has released four studio albums to date: ''Faster Pussycat'' (1987), '' Wake Me When It's Over'' (1989), ''Whipped!'' (1992) and ''The Power and the Glory Hole'' (2006). Brent Muscat
Brent Muscat (born April 23, 1967) is an American musician best known as the guitarist of glam metal band Faster Pussycat. Faster PussyCat, etc. Faster Pussycat was formed in the 1980s Hollywood glam metal boom. The original line up consisted of Brent, along with Taime Downe and Greg Steele. The band's most successful album '' Wake Me When It's Over'' earned "Gold" status from the RIAA. The name of the band is derived from the Russ Meyer film ''Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!''. Brent left the band in 1993. On April 21, 2007, Muscat circulated via MySpace an open invitation to Taime Downe and Greg Steele to reunite the classic Faster Pussycat lineup with him (Downe had been touring in a new incarnation of the group, featuring only himself from the original lineup). Taime Downe (; born Gustave Molvik on September 29, 1964) is an American musician best known as the lead singer of the 1980s hard rock/glam metal band Faster Pussycat. Life and career In high school, Downe formed a band named The Bondage Boys, and going under the stage name Vaun Hammer, he released a song with this band titled "The Loser" on '' Northwest Metalfest'', a compilation featuring 10 Seattle-area bands. Sometime after this, he left Seattle for San Diego and then moved on to Los Angeles. Downe worked for Retail Slut in Hollywood and ran the stage lights at the Troubadour. Magnus Walker of Serious Clothing accidentally got his start when, walking into Retail Slut, Downe asked where he had got his pants. Glam metal (also known as hair metal or pop metal) is a subgenre of heavy metal that features pop-influenced hooks and guitar riffs, upbeat rock anthems, and slow power ballads. It borrows heavily from the fashion and image of 1970s glam rock. Early glam metal evolved directly from the glam rock movement of the 1970s, as visual elements taken from acts such as T. Russell Albion Meyer (March 21, 1922 – September 18, 2004) was an American film director, producer, screenwriter, cinematographer, and editor. He is known primarily for writing and directing a series of successful sexploitation films that featured campy humor, sly satire and large-breasted women, such as '' Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!''.
