Kurt Neumann (director)
Kurt Neumann (5 April 1908 – 21 August 1958) was a German Hollywood (film industry), Hollywood film director who specialized in science fiction movies in his later career. Biography Born in Nuremberg, the son of a manufacturer of tin stamps studied music in several German cities, including Berlin. In 1926 he directed his first short movie. Neumann came to the U.S. in the early talkie era, hired to direct German language versions of Hollywood films. Once he mastered English and established himself as technically proficient in filmmaking, Neumann directed such low-budget programmers as ''The Big Cage'' (1932), ''Secret of the Blue Room'' (1933) with Paul Lukas and Gloria Stuart, ''Hold 'Em Navy'' (1936), ''It Happened in New Orleans (1936 film), It Happened in New Orleans'' (1936) with child star Bobby Breen, ''Wide Open Faces'' (1937) with Joe E. Mickey Rooney
Mickey Rooney (born Joseph Yule Jr.; other pseudonym Mickey Maguire; September 23, 1920 – April 6, 2014) was an American actor. In a career spanning nine decades, he appeared in more than 300 films and was among the last surviving stars of the silent-film era. He was the top box-office attraction from 1939 to 1941, and one of the best-paid actors of that era. After being selected from a photo contest, she attended Universal Pictures' "little red school house," a film school for aspiring actors and actresses. Edgar Livingston Kennedy (April 26, 1890 – November 9, 1948) was an American comedic character actor who appeared in at least 500 films during the silent and sound eras. Professionally, he was known as "Slow Burn", owing to his ability to portray characters whose anger slowly rose in frustrating situations. In many of his roles, he used exasperated facial expressions and performed very deliberately to convey his rising anger or "burn", often rubbing his hand over his bald head and across his face in an effort to control his temper. One memorable example of his comedy technique can be seen in the 1933 Marx Brothers' film '' Duck Soup'', where he plays a sidewalk lemonade vendor who is harassed and increasingly provoked by Harpo and Chico.
