Farney, Monaghan
Farney () is a barony in County Monaghan, Republic of Ireland. Etymology Farney takes its name from the ancient kingdom of Fernmag ("plain of alders"). Location Farney is found in southeast County Monaghan, north of the River Lagan, west of the River Fane and south of Lough Muckno. Farney is bordered to the north by Cremorne, County Monaghan; to the east by Dundalk Upper, Louth and Ardee, County Louth; to the south by Lower Slane, County Meath; and to the west by Clankee, County Cavan. History O'Ciaran or O'Kieran is given as a chief of Fearnmuigh as a clan of Tír Eoghain. The O'Larkin sept is cited as chiefs alongside the O'Neills and MacCanns in the old territory of Airgíalla (Oriel), where they were chiefs of Farney and West Uí Breasail (in County Armagh). Dick Farney
Farnésio Dutra e Silva (14 November 1921 – 4 August 1987), better known as Dick Farney, was a Brazilian (jazz) pianist, pop-composer, and "crooner" popular in Brazil from the late 1940s to the mid 1970s and 1980s. He began playing piano as a child as his father taught him classical music and his mother taught him how to sing. In 1937, he debuted as a singer on the show "Hora Juvenil" of Radio Cruzeiro do Sul in Rio de Janeiro, performing the song ''Deep Purple'' composed by Pete DeRose. Dick was taken by César Ladeira to Radio Mayrink Veiga to host the program "Dick Farney, the Voice and Piano". He then formed the group "Os Swing Maniacos" alongside his brother Cyll Farney on drums. The band accompanied Edu da Gaita for the recording of "Indian Song" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. From 1941 to 1944, he was a crooner with the orchestra of Carlos Machado at the Casino da Urca when gambling was still allowed in Brazil. Marsha Lane Hatley Farney (born December 15, 1958) is an American businesswoman and former educator from Georgetown, Texas. From 2013 to 2017, she was a Republican Party (United States), Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 20, based in Burnet County, Texas, Burnet and Milam County, Texas, Milam counties and a portion of northern Williamson County, Texas, Williamson County, a suburb of Austin, Texas, Austin in the central portion of the state. The Monaghan County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Luthchleas Gael Coiste Mhuineacháin) or Monaghan GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Monaghan and the Monaghan county football and hurling teams. Separate county boards are responsible for the promotion & development of handball, camogie and ladies' football within the county, as well as having responsibility for their representative county players/teams.
