Farm To Market Road 1417
Farm to Market Road 1417 (FM 1417) is an FM highway that exists in two disconnected sections. The highway serves as a quasi beltway for the Sherman-Denison metropolitan area. The entire route is internally designated by TxDOT as Urban Road 1417 (UR 1417). Route description Eastern leg FM 1417 begins at an interchange with US 82 in the easternmost part of Sherman. The highway leaves the city limits just south of here, running in unincorporated Grayson County. FM 1417 ends at an intersection with State Highway 56. Western leg The "main" section of FM 1417 begins at an intersection with State Highway 11 southeast of Sherman. The highway enters the city's southside, intersecting US 75. State Highway 56 (SH 56) is a state highway Grayson and Fannin counties in north-central Texas, United States. This highway was designated in 1974 to replace U.S. Highway 82 (US 82) when it was rerouted north of Whitesboro and Sherman. SH 56 has been extended further since then as the US 82 bypass continued to be extended north of Bonham and Honey Grove. Through Sherman, SH 56 operates on a pair of one-way streets, Lamar (eastbound) and Houston (westbound). Route description SH 56 begins at an intersection with US 82 just outside of Whitesboro. State Highway 11 (SH 11) is a highway that runs from US 59 (Future I-369) in Linden to SH 56 in Sherman in northeast Texas. Route description SH 11 begins at an intersection with State Highway 56 on the easternedge of Sherman, just north of the Sherman Regional Airport. The route then travels to the southeast through Northeast Texas. In 2009, it was rerouted around the city of Commerce, concurrent with State Highway 24 and State Loop 178, with the old routing through Commerce transferred to a business route. It continues southeast toward Sulphur Springs, where it shares a concurrency with State Highway 154 and the old routing of US 67, and intersects I-30 on the south side of town. North Texas Regional Airport
North Texas Regional Airport / Perrin Field is a county-owned airport in Grayson County, Texas between Sherman and Denison. Formerly Grayson County Airport, the airport was renamed in November 2007. Several buildings are occupied by businesses, Grayson County government agencies, and Grayson County College. Most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, but this airport is GYI to the FAA and PNX to the IATA (which assigned GYI to Gisenyi Airport in Gisenyi, Rwanda).
