Farhad Ardalan
Farhad Ardalan (in Persian:فرهاد اردلان, born 1939, Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian High Energy Physics, High Energy physicist. He is a professor at Sharif University and the Institute for Studies in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics. He is known for the proposal of the para-string theory, construction of modular invariant partition function (quantum field theory), partition functions for WZNW models via the orbifold method, classification of 11-dimensional supergravity solutions with a quotient structure, and discovery of non-commutativity in D-branes of string theory. He is also known for research work in superstring theory and Yang–Mills theory. Ardalan and some other prominent Iranian physicists, such as Reza Mansouri and Mehdi Golshani, have been among the main architects of theoretical physics in Iran. Ardalan
Ardalan ( ku, میرنشینی ئەردەڵان) was a hereditary Kurdish vassaldom in western Iran from around the 14th century until 1865 or 1868 with Sanandaj as capital. The territory corresponded roughly to present-day Kurdistan Province of Iran and the rulers were loyal to the Qajar Empire. Baban was its main rival. Gorani was the literary language and lingua franca. When the vassaldom fell, literary work in Gorani ceased. History The ruling family of Ardalan belonged to the Bani Ardalan tribe, whose name may has been suggested to have been acquired from a Turkic rank. The ruling family considered themselves to be descended from Saladin (), the founder of the Ayyubid dynasty (1171–1260/1341). Reza Mansouri
Reza Mansouri ( fa, رضا منصوری, born 1948) is an Iranian physicist and a retired professor of physics at Sharif University of Technology. Biography Reza Mansouri received his Ph.D. in 1972 from the University of Vienna under the supervision of Roman Ulrich Sexl. He also spent five years as an Assistant Professor there. He served as Deputy Science Minister from 2001 to 2005, and is one of Iran's influential scientific policymakers. Without his efforts, Iran would not have been able to participate in international scientific collaborations such as SESAME (Middle-East Synchrotron) and the Large Hadron Collider particle accelerator at CERN in Geneva. Mansouri has a number of publications focusing on scientific development in Iran. He has received scientific honors, including the prestigious Abdus Salam prize.
