Fargo-Moorhead Fever
The Fargo-Moorhead Fever were a professional basketball team based in the Fargo–Moorhead metropolitan area on the North Dakota–Minnesota border. The Fever were members of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) for two seasons, from 1992 to 1994. Steve Bontrager served as the team's head coach during their two seasons. The team played their home games at the Fargodome in Fargo, North Dakota during the 1993–94 season. The franchise was put up for sale after the 1993–94 season and an ownership group from Mexico City purchased the franchise over two other bids. The team was known as the Mexico City Aztecas during the 1994–95 season. Jon Absey, who portrayed the Utah Jazz mascot Jazz Bear, got his start in basketball promotions as Fargo-Moorhead's mascot. His employment was terminated after management determined a stunt in which Absey rode a toboggan down the stadium's steps was too dangerous, however that stunt is now a staple of Jazz Bear's performance. The Fargo-Moorhead Beez was a professional basketball club based in Fargo, North Dakota that competed in the International Basketball Association beginning in the 1995-1996 season. They were the 1995-1996 and the 1997-1998 International Basketball Association champions. The team joined the Continental Basketball Association in 2001 when the IBA folded, along with IBA rivals, the Dakota Wizards and the Saskatchewan Hawks. In their one and only CBA season, the Beez made the play-offs and faced off in a best-of-5 series with the Dakota Wizards for the National Conference Championship. The Wizards, however, won the series 3-0 and went on to become the 2002 CBA Champions. The Beez folded that following summer. Fargodome is an indoor athletic stadium in the north central United States, located on the campus of North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Fargo, North Dakota. Opened in late 1992, the facility is owned by the City of Fargo and built on university land. Not an actual dome, its seating capacity is 18,700 for football and over 25,000 for full arena concerts.
