Fareham Hockey Club is a field hockey club that is based at The Henry Cort Community College, in Fareham, Hampshire. The founding of the club is unknown but it was in existence by 1902 when known as the Fareham and District Hockey Club. The Henry Cort Community College
The Henry Cort Community College, formerly Fareham Park Senior School, is a mixed sex comprehensive school in Fareham, Hampshire, England. It is one of three comprehensive schools in Fareham, and had around 850 students at the last count. It has a sporting tradition, especially in field hockey, and has sports facilities, including an astroturf pitch and a gym. The school is named after the iron pioneer, Henry Cort. Men's England Hockey League
The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. The winners of the Premier Division regular season automatically qualify to play in the Euro Hockey League. Southern Counties Hockey Association runs field hockey leagues based in the South and South East of England. The leagues feed teams into the Men's and Women's England Hockey Leagues and receive teams from sub-regional (county) leagues. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. Fareham
Fareham ( ) is a market town at the north-west tip of Portsmouth Harbour, between the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton in south east Hampshire, England. 2019–20 Men's Hockey League Season
The 2019–20 Men's England Hockey League season was the 2019–20 season of England's field hockey league structure. The season started on 14 September 2019 and was due to end in March 2020, but finished on 12 September 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The defending champions were Hampstead and Westminster. Old Georgians, winners of the Hockey League Conference East replaced the relegated Sevenoaks. On 17 March 2020, the play-offs were suspended due to COVID. The play-offs were officially cancelled on 28 April 2020 and Surbiton were crowned champions. Beeston Hockey Club won the delayed Championship Cup on 12 September 2020, defeating Bowdon and Fareham respectively.
