Farah Nosh
Farah Nosh ( ar, فرح نوش) is an Iraqi Canadian photojournalist. Her work about Iraq and its conflicts has been exhibited in galleries in the U.S. and UK. She has appeared on the CNN Inside The Middle East segment "Someone You Should Know", which explores different persons and their effects on the region. Life Nosh was born and grew up in Canada. She attended the University of British Columbia in 1998 to study geography for her BA, and then in 2002 she undertook a diploma in photojournalism at the Western Academy of Photography in Victoria. Although Nosh is Iraqi, she never knew her family in Iraq before the conflict. When the U.S.–Iraq war began in 2003, she left the compound where western journalists were based and lived isolated in a small house in western Baghdad with her family. Iraqi Art
Iraqi art is one of the richest art heritages in world and refers to all works of visual art originating from the geographical region of what is present day Iraq since ancient Mesopotamian periods. For centuries, the capital, Baghdad was the Medieval centre of the literary and artistic Arab world during the Abbasid Caliphate, in which Baghdad was the capital, but its artistic traditions suffered at the hands of the Mongol invaders in the 13th century. During other periods it has flourished, such as during the reign of Pir Budaq, or under Ottoman rule in the 16th century when Baghdad was known for its Ottoman miniature painting. In the 20th century, an art revival, which combined both tradition and modern techniques, produced many notable poets, painters and sculptors who contributed to the inventory of public artworks, especially in Baghdad. Overseas Press Club
The Overseas Press Club of America (OPC) was founded in 1939 in New York City by a group of foreign correspondents. The wire service reporter Carol Weld was a founding member, as was the war correspondent Peggy Hull. The National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) is an American professional association made up of still photographers, television videographers, editors, and students in the journalism field. Founded in 1946, the organization is based in at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia. The NPPA places emphasis on photojournalism, or journalism that presents a story through the use of photographs or moving pictures.
