Faouze Barkati
Faouze Barkati is a French music producer and songwriter working with Yanis Records France and credited for popularizing the kuduro music and dance in Europe worldwide. Through his friendship since childhood with Lucenzo, he took an Angolan dance form he had been introduced to 25 years earlier through his travels, and convinced Lucenzo and his second producer Fabrice Toïgo to launch the genre by adapting kuduro with catchy fusion of Portuguese and European elements. Faouze Barkati went on to produce many songs for Lucenzo most notably "Vem Dançar Kuduro" a big dance hit in France and the basis of the international hit " Danza Kuduro" by Don Omar & Lucenzo, where he was also credited. The new Don Omar version was also featured in the film '' Fast Five''. Kuduro
Kuduro (or kuduru) is a type of music and dance from Angola. It is characterized as uptempo, energetic, and danceable. Kuduro was developed in Luanda, Angola in the late 1980s. Producers sampled traditional carnival music like soca and zouk béton ("hard" zouk) from the Caribbean to Angola, techno and accordion playing from Europe and laid this around a fast 4/4 beat. The kuduro is similar to the kizomba rhythm. Origins The roots of kuduro can be traced to the late 1980s when producers in Luanda, Angola started mixing African percussion samples with zouk béton ("hard" zouk) and soca to create a style of music then known as Batida ("Beat"). European and American electronic music had begun appearing in the market, which attracted Angolan musicians and inspired them to incorporate their own musical styles. Luís Filipe Fraga Oliveira (; born 27 May 1983), better known by his stage name Lucenzo (), is a Portuguese–French reggaeton recording artist and record producer. His parents emigrated to France, from Portugal. Lucenzo, when began his singing career, signed with the Universal Music record label, to which he is still today. He is best known for his dance hit with rapper Big Ali, "Vem dançar Kuduro". Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Don Omar released a Spanish/Portuguese version of the song under the title "Danza Kuduro" with Lucenzo. "Vem Dançar Kuduro" (, en, Come Dance Kuduro) is a multilingual Portuguese/English dance hit single by Lucenzo, a France-based artist of Portuguese origin featuring France-based American artist Big Ali. Lucenzo sings in Portuguese and Big Ali in English.
