Fantômas (Amiina Album)
''Fantômas'' is the third album by amiina. It was released in late 2016 and was originally conceived as a score to the silent movie of the same name. It premiered at a screening of the silent movies in Paris 2013 together with music by James Blackshaw, Tim Hecker, Loney, Dear and Yann Tiersen who also curated the event. The special edition of the album came with a playable postcard with the song "Café From Fantômas" and four semitransparent prints of the band members. Amiina
Amiina (formerly Amína, stylized in lowercase) is an Icelandic band composed of members Maria Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir, and Sólrún Sumarliðadóttir, Magnús Trygvason Eliassen and Guðmundur Vignir Karlsson. In the past they have frequently performed live and in the studio with Sigur Rós. Their music is made with a great number of instruments. It contains elements of minimalistic style, contemporary classical, ambient, and electronic loops. In their performances each member will play many instruments, sometimes moving across the stage, going from one instrument to another mid-song. The Lighthouse Project (EP)
''The Lighthouse Project'' is an EP by amiina from Iceland, released on June 7, 2013. The songs were originally played during a summer 2009 concert tour in Iceland where amiina played at small and unusual locations, such as the Dalatangaviti lighthouse. Except for the last song, the songs on ''The Lighthouse Project'' were recorded "live" in studio trying to reproduce the atmosphere of the original performances. The last song is a 2009 recording from the Dalatangaviti lighthouse, shown on the cover and referenced by the longitude/latitude song name. During the time leading up to the release of ''The Lighthouse Project'' the band's label released two teaser videos depicting the Icelandic landscape and eventually a full video of the band playing the first track ''Perth'' inside Dalatangaviti lighthouse. Fantômas (1913 Serial)
''Fantômas'' () is a French silent crime film serial directed by Louis Feuillade, based on the novel of the same name. The five episodes, initially released throughout 1913–14, were restored under the direction of Jacques Champreaux and released in this new form in 2006. Series The series consists of five episodes, each an hour to an hour and a half in length, which end in cliffhangers. Episodes one and three end with Fantômas making a last-minute escape, and the end of the second entry has Fantômas blowing up Lady Beltham's manor house with Juve and Fandor, the two heroes, still inside. James Blackshaw
James Blackshaw (born 1981) is an English, Hastings-based folk fingerstyle guitarist and pianist. Blackshaw primarily plays an acoustic 12 string guitar and has been compared to Bert Jansch, Robbie Basho, John Fahey, Jack Rose, and Leo Kottke. He has released albums on the labels Celebrate Psi Phenomenon, Barl Fire Recordings, Static Caravan, Digitalis Industries, Important Records, Tompkins Square, and Young God Records. In April 2016, he announced an indefinite hiatus from recording and performing music. His show in Hastings in August 2016 is his last one prior to hiatus. Tim Hecker is a Canadian electronic musician, producer, composer, and sound artist. Loney, Dear
Loney Dear is the pseudonym of Swedish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Emil Svanängen (born March 26, 1979). He has self-released four albums of music in his native Sweden. His first major release came in February, 2007 in the U.S. when Sub Pop re-issued his album '' Loney, Noir''. History Emil Svanängen self-released his first album, ''The Year of River Fontana'', in 2003. Recorded in the basement of his parents' home in Jönköping with a minidisk microphone and a home computer, released on home-made CD-Rs, and sold only through his website and at live performances. Yann Tiersen
Yann Tiersen (born 23 June 1970) is a French Breton musician and composer. His musical career is split between studio recordings, music collaborations and film soundtracks songwriting. His music incorporates a large variety of classical and contemporary instruments, primarily the electric guitar, the piano, synthesisers and the violin, but also instruments such as the melodica, xylophone, toy piano, harpsichord, piano accordion or even typewriter. Tiersen is often mistaken for a soundtrack composer; as he is quoted about himself: "I'm not a composer and I really don't have a classical background," but his real focus is on touring and recording studio albums, which are often used for film soundtracks. A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. The groove usually starts near the periphery and ends near the center of the disc. At first, the discs were commonly made from shellac, with earlier records having a fine abrasive filler mixed in. Starting in the 1940s polyvinyl chloride became common, hence the name vinyl. The phonograph record was the primary medium used for music reproduction throughout the 20th century. Sundlaugin (, ''the swimming pool'') is a recording studio located near Álafoss in the town of Mosfellsbær in Iceland known for being the recording and rehearsal location of post-rock band Sigur Rós. The location was originally a swimming pool built in the 1930s which had been abandoned when Sigur Rós purchased it in 1999 and converted it and adjacent buildings into a studio. The band originally intended to record their third album, entitled '' ( )'', in an abandoned NATO tracking base in the northernmost mountain in Iceland, but after inspection decided it was too impractical. Shortly after they found the abandoned pool lot in a rural neighborhood in Mosfellsbær. They bought the lot and transformed it into a studio.
