Fannichs
The Fannichs are a range of mountains located in Highland, Scotland. It lies between Loch Fannich in the southeast and Loch Broom in the northwest. According to Edward Dwelly Edward Dwelly (1864–1939) was an English lexicographer and genealogist. He created the authoritative dictionary of Scottish Gaelic, and his work has had an influence on Irish Gaelic lexicography. He also practised as a professional genealogist ..., the word "fannich" means "flat place". Sgùrr nan Each is a Scottish mountain situated in the group of hills known as the Fannichs. It is south of Ullapool in the Ross and Cromarty district of the Highland council area. Overview Sgùrr nan Each is not an easy mountain to view from any main road, being set in the interior of the Fannichs with lines of sight often blocked by the other nine Munros in the group. Sgùrr nan Clach Geala is a mountain in Wester Ross in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland, south of Ullapool. With a height of , it is one of ten Munros in the group of hills known as the Fannichs. Overview With a height of 1093 metres (3586 feet) Sgùrr nan Clach Geala is the second highest of the Fannaichs behind Sgùrr Mòr (Fannichs), Sgùrr Mòr and is regarded by many as the best peak of the group"The Munros" Page 206 “Sgurr nan Clach Geala may well be considered to be the finest of the Fannichs“. with its fine east facing Cirque, corrie and pointed buttresses.
