Fanfare (film)
''Fanfare'' is a 1958 Dutch comedy film directed by Bert Haanstra. The film was entered into the 1959 Cannes Film Festival and the 1st Moscow International Film Festival. It was the Diamond Film, most successful Dutch film at the time with over 2.6 million admission until surpassed by the 1973 film ''Turkish Delight (1973 film), Turkish Delight''. Bert Haanstra
Albert Haanstra (; 31 May 1916 – 23 October 1997) was a Dutch director of films and documentaries. His documentary ''Glass'' (1958) won the Academy Award for Documentary Short Subject in 1959. His feature film ''Fanfare'' (1958) was the most visited Dutch film at the time, and has since only been surpassed by ''Turkish Delight'' (1973). Early life Albert Haanstra was born on 31 May 1916 in Espelo, a small village near Holten, in the Netherlands. His father was Folkert Haanstra, a schoolteacher, and his mother Jansje Schuiveling. Haanstra grew up in the village of Goor. Because he lived during the poverty of the 1920s, Haanstra grew up with the mindset that in order to get the most out of life, he would need to work hard and live below his means in order to survive. Haanstra's father retired early as a schoolteacher and started his lifelong dream of becoming a painter. Albert Mol
Albert Mol (3 January 1917 – 9 March 2004) was a Dutch author, actor and television personality. Life and career Mol was born in Amsterdam, and was one of the first openly gay actors in the Netherlands. He married Lucy Bor in 1948. The couple had a child the following year, actress Kika Mol, but divorced in 1955. On 16 March 1998, Mol registered his relationship with his partner Guerdon Bill. Their relationship lasted until Guerdon's death on 17 August 2003. Ton Lutz
Antonius Cornelis "Ton" Lutz (17 June 1919, in Delft – 3 May 2009, in Amsterdam) was a Dutch actor and artistic leader. His two younger brothers, Luc and Pieter, were also actors, as well as his nephew Joris Lutz. He was married to actress Ann Hasekamp. Twice, in 1968 and 1983, he was awarded the Louis d'Or, the Dutch prize for the best Dutch actor of the year. In later years, 1993–2002, he appeared mostly in television productions. Life After finishing high school, Lutz worked as a reporter for the ''Nieuwe Delftse Courant'' newspaper in Delft, where eventually he found himself assigned to write the theater reviews. During World War II he tried join the repertoire group at the Royal Theatre in The Hague, known as the ''Residentie Tooneel'', but was rejected. Instead, he was accepted for training at the Amsterdam Theatre School in 1944, but the program was shut down by the war. After liberation Lutz went to work as a radio announcer in Groningen.
