Fanfan (Mauritian Singer)
''Fanfan'' (''Fanfan & Alexandre'') is a 1993 French romantic comedy film written and directed by Alexandre Jardin and starring Sophie Marceau and Vincent Perez. This film is based on the director's best-selling 1990 novel, which was translated into almost two dozen languages. Plot Alexandre ( Vincent Perez) is frustrated with his fiancé, Laure ( Marine Delterme), whose idea of a romantic Valentine's Day gift is a pair of slippers. The passion and magic of their initial courtship has been replaced by routine and boredom. Needing to get away, Alexandre visits the beachfront cottage of his friends, Ti (Gérard Séty) and Maude (Micheline Presle). There he meets a young woman, Fanfan (Sophie Marceau), who is Maude's granddaughter and a student at Maude's school, studying to become a perfumer or ''Nose''. Gérard Caillaud (10 April 1946 – 28 January 2023) was a French actor and theatre director. Biography Born in Poitiers on 10 April 1946, Caillaud studied at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique until 1971, when he became a resident of the Comédie-Française. He performed many pieces by Molière until his departure in 1978. From 1984 to 1997, he was director of the Théâtre des Mathurins, where he staged plays such as ', which won him a Molière Award for Best Director in 1990. The franc (, ; sign: F or Fr), also commonly distinguished as the (FF), was a currency of France. Between 1360 and 1641, it was the name of coins worth 1 livre tournois and it remained in common parlance as a term for this amount of money. It was reintroduced (in decimal form) in 1795. After two centuries of inflation, it was redenominated in 1960, with each (NF) being worth 100 old francs. The NF designation was continued for a few years before the currency returned to being simply the franc. Many French residents, though, continued to quote prices of especially expensive items in terms of the old franc (equivalent to the new centime), up to and even after the introduction of the euro (for coins and banknotes) in 2002.
