Manfred Alois Segieth (born 7 July 1946), known by his stage name Fancy, is a German singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. Early life Manfred Alois Segieth was born on 7 July 1946 in Munich. Fancy started playing guitar at the age of twelve. While attending a boarding school where the enjoyment of worldly music was not allowed, he had to secretly listen to the pop records of artists such as Ted Herold and Peter Kraus. At age 14, he switched to the humanistic high school in Munich. During and after high school, he worked in various bands as a guitarist and bass player, though he mainly performed as a singer. He performed with these bands in numerous dance halls. However, his parents did not share Fancy's enthusiasm for music. His father had only changed his mind after recovering from a major operation. ''Fancy'' was a 46-gun frigate commanded by pirate Henry Every between May 1694 to late 1695. History ''Fancy'' was initially a 46-gun privateer named ''Charles II'' – after Charles II of Spain – in Spanish service, commanded by a Captain Gibson, and was anchored at A Coruña, Spain. On 7 May 1694, Henry Every and a few other conspirators organised and carried out a successful mutiny and, setting Captain Gibson ashore, left A Coruña for the Cape of Good Hope. At this time, ''Charles II'' was renamed ''Fancy''. Fancy were an early-mid-1970s pop group. The band was made up of session musicians produced by Mike Hurst. They had a surprise U.S. hit single in 1974 with a version of the classic " Wild Thing", peaking at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #31 in Australia. They also had a second U.S. hit with "Touch Me", peaking at #19 and #97 in Australia. They were initially fronted by ''Penthouse'' Pet Helen Caunt and later Annie Kavanagh. Ray Fenwick, formerly of The Spencer Davis Group, joined Fancy in 1974.
