Fame Academy (Germany)
Fame Academy was a German reality television program and casting show launched on RTL II in 2003 under the same format of the international TV franchise Star Academy in search of a boy band to be launched by the programme from a number of contestants applying. The programme was not successful in comparison to the more successful counterparts like the Spanish Operación Triunfo or the French Star Academy. The reception however was lukewarm in Germany with an average of 900,000 tuning in. The series was discontinued after initial season. Winners went on to form the band Become One. Season 1 (2003) The German Fame Academy was launched on 7 September 2003 on RTL II, with additional broadcasts on Tele 5 and MTV2. The season extended until 30 November 2003 when winners were announced. Every week, depending on the perceived quality of their performances, contestants would be put into either "safe" or "danger" zones. Irene Cara
Irene Cara Escalera (March 18, 1959 – November 25, 2022) was an American singer, songwriter and actress of Black, Puerto Rican and Cuban descent. Cara rose to prominence for her role as Coco Hernandez in the 1980 musical film '' Fame'', and for recording the film's title song " Fame", which reached 1 in several countries. In 1983, Cara co-wrote and sang the song " Flashdance... What a Feeling" (from the film ''Flashdance''), for which she shared an Academy Award for Best Original Song and won a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1984. No Angels are an all-female pop group from Germany, formed in 2000. Krypteria
And Then She Came is a rock music, rock band from Aachen, Germany. The band was formed as Krypteria, a symphonic gothic metal, gothic metal band. Originating from a 2001 "pop musical theatre studio project" of the same name, the idea was to use different vocalists, though German-Korean singer Ji-In Cho assumed the role of lead vocalist in 2004. One self-titled studio album was released under this moniker (later edited and re-released as ''Liberatio''). The group went on hiatus in 2012 and later reformed as And Then She Came in 2016. Ji-In Cho
Ji-In Cho (born 30 December 1976) is a German heavy metal singer of Korean descent. She has been the lead vocalist of the symphonic metal band Krypteria since December 2004 until their hiatus after her pregnancy. Following this, she became the lead vocalist of And Then She Came, a band consisting of most of the former members of Krypteria. Biography Ji-In Cho began an extensive musical education, including piano lessons, when she was six years old. Later she studied Music (Cologne music academy) and Theology (University of Cologne). In 2003, Cho was unwittingly registered by a friend to the German edition of the ''Fame Academy'' television show for musical talents. For the show she recorded a cover version of Alanis Morissette's song "Ironic" which brought her into the German singles charts. Become One
Become One was a German boy/girl pop band. The six-members of the band were chosen by a casting German reality television show called Fame Academy, a German version of the international Star Academy franchise and hosted by Nova Meierhenrich on the German television channel RTL II. The band was formed in 2003 and had two singles and one album. The debut single with the winning song "I Don't Need Your Alibis". The single was produced by Michael Kersting and released the following week after the finale. It charted in Germany reaching number 16 staying 9 weeks in the German Official Singles Chart. It was also a hit in Switzerland and Austria where the show was also available. The band released their album ''1'' in January 2004.
