Falkenberg is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Falkenberg Municipality, Halland County, Sweden, with 27,813 inhabitants in 2019 (out of a municipal total of about 45,000). It is located at the mouth of river Ätran (river), Ätran. The name consists of the Swedish words for falcon (''falk'') and mountain (''berg''). Falkenberg Municipality (''Falkenbergs kommun'') is a municipality in Halland County on the Swedish west coast. The town Falkenberg is the municipal seat. The municipality was created in 1971 when the ''City of Falkenberg'' was amalgamated with six rural municipalities (themselves formed by the 1952 local government reform) and part of a seventh. There are 24 original entities within the area. Falkenbergs Fotbollsförening, also known simply as Falkenbergs FF, Falkenberg or (especially locally) FFF, is a Swedish football club based in Falkenberg. Formed on 3 January 1928, the club plays in the second highest Swedish league, Superettan. Falkenberg are affiliated with Hallands Fotbollförbund. History During the first thirty seasons of Falkenbergs FF, the club spent most of its time in Division 3. In the early years, the club also played bandy and handball. In the early seventies (1973 and 1974), FFF were in Division 6. Allsvenskan (; en, the All-Swedish, also known as Fotbollsallsvenskan, en, the Football All-Swedish) is a Swedish professional league for men's association football clubs. Falcon Brewery (Bryggeri AB Falken) was a brewery company in Falkenberg, Sweden. After being bought by Carlsberg it is now one of their production facilities. The brewery was founded in 1896 by John L Skantze who picked Falkenberg because financial support was found there. In 1955 they started selling beer under the Falcon name. The company continued to grow, but after the ban on Class IIB beer the company came into difficulties and in 1977 it was bought by Pripps and was combined with Sandwalls in Borås (closed in 1981). 1985 the company was split into Falken that manufactured and Falcon that handled marketing, distribution and sales. Östers Idrottsförening, commonly known as Östers IF or simply Öster, is a Swedish sports club located in Växjö, specializing in Association football, football, and playing in the second tier of Swedish football, Superettan. The club has previously also competed in ice hockey (Östers IF (ice hockey), see separate article), bandy, and bowling.
