Fair Game (EP)
''Fair Game'' is the debut extended play (EP) by Australian rock band The Sports, released independently in 1977 and limited to 500 copies. It was produced by Joe Camilleri. A copy of the EP made it to the UK rock publication New Musical Express who wasted no time in pronouncing it their "Record of the Week", which led to the group being signed to Mushroom Records in Australia. The Sports
The Sports were an Australian Rock music, rock group which performed and recorded between 1976 and 1981. Mainstay members were Stephen Cummings on lead vocals and Robert Glover on bass guitar, with long-term members such as Paul Hitchins on drums, Andrew Pendlebury on lead guitar and vocals, and Martin Armiger on guitar. Their style was similar to both 1970s British Pub rock (United Kingdom), pub rock bands (such as Brinsley Schwarz) and British New wave music, new wave (such as Elvis Costello). Indie Pop
Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of mainstream pop music. It originated from British post-punk in the late 1970s and subsequently generated a thriving fanzine, Independent record label, label, and club and gig circuit. Compared to its counterpart, indie rock, the genre is more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst-free. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". Pop Rock
Pop rock (also typeset as pop/rock) is a fusion genre with an emphasis on professional songwriting and recording craft, and less emphasis on attitude than rock music. Joe Camilleri
Joseph Vincent Camilleri, (born 21 May 1948) aka Jo Jo Zep or Joey Vincent, is a Maltese Australian singer-songwriter and musician. Camilleri has recorded as a solo artist and as a member of Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons and The Black Sorrows. Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons' highest-charting single was "Hit & Run" from June 1979, which peaked at #12; NOTE: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1970 until ARIA created their own charts in mid-1988. Reckless is the debut studio album by Australian rock and pop band The Sports, released in May 1978. The album peaked at number 43 on the Australian Kent Music Report. Warren Smith (February 7, 1932 – January 30, 1980) was an American rockabilly and country music singer and guitarist. Biography Smith was born in Humphreys County, Mississippi, to Ioda and Willie Warren Smith, who divorced when he was young. He was raised by his maternal grandparents in Louise, Mississippi, where they had a small farm and dry goods store. Smith took up the guitar to while away his evenings while in the United States Air Force stationed in San Antonio, Texas.
