''Failure of Engineer Garin'' (russian: Крах инженера Гарина, translit. Krakh inzhenera Garina) is a 1973 Soviet television film in four parts loosely based on a novel '' Hyperboloid of Engineer Garin'' by Alexei Tolstoy. Produced by Lenfilm by the order of Gosteleradio of USSR Plot summary A Russian engineer Petr Garin possesses a unique beam-shooting weapon that can destroy any target on practically any distance. Staging his death he emigrates from Russia as a French merchant and tries to find contacts with the head of one of the largest financial trusts in Europe, Mr. Rolling. The final goal of Garin is to rule the world. Aleksandr Sergeyevich Demyanenko (russian: Алекса́ндр Серге́евич Демья́ненко; May 30, 1937 – August 22, 1999) was a Soviet and Russian actor. He was given the honorary distinction of People's Artist of the RSFSR. He began his acting career with the film '' The Wind'' in 1959, and is well known for playing the character Shurik in a number of films, beginning with the 1965 comedy '' Operation Y and Other Shurik's Adventures'', and ending with the 1997 film ''Old Songs of the Main Things 2''. Gediminas ( la, Gedeminne, ; – December 1341) was the king or Grand Duke of Lithuania from 1315 or 1316 until his death. Yefim Zakharovich Kopelyan (russian: Ефим Захарович Копелян; 12 April 1912 – 6 March 1975) was a Soviet Union, Soviet actor of theatre and cinema, one of the legendary masters of the Bolshoi Theatre of Drama (BDT) in Leningrad. He performed bright, characteristic roles in the films ''The Elusive Avengers'', ''Intervention (1968 film), Intervention'', ''Eternal Call'', ''The Straw Hat'', and many others. Valentin Yuryevich Nikulin (russian: Валенти́н Ю́рьевич Нику́лин; 7 July 1932, Moscow — 6 August 2005, Moscow) was a Soviet, Russian and Israeli theater and film actor. Nikulin was born in the family of the playwright Yuri Nikulin (1907-1958) and pianist Eugeniya Brooke (1909-1982); nephew of the writer Lev Nikulin and actors Konstantin Shayne and Tamara Shayne, and a grandson of impresario Veniamin Nikulin. Nikulin graduated from Moscow State University with a degree in law in 1957 and from the School-Studio at the Moscow Art Theatre (1956–60). Algimantas Masiulis (July 10, 1931 Surdegis, Anykščiai District Municipality — August 19, 2008, Kaunas, Lithuania) was a Lithuanian film and theatre actor. Biography Masiulis appeared in his first play in the autumn of 1948, in '' Schoolgirl'', where he played the role of a gym student. The play was directed by his teacher, Juozas Miltinis. Over the course of his career, Masiulis portrayed over 90 characters. Masiulis appeared in Lithuanian, Russian and Soviet productions. He performed at the Panevezys Drama Theatre for many years before joining the Kaunas State Drama Theatre in 1978. Masiulis also devoted more time to his drawings and art during the latter part of his life. Masiulis was awarded the 3rd Class Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas in 1998 for his work in cinema and theater.
