Fading Lights
"Fading Lights" is the twelfth and final song on the album ''We Can't Dance'' by Genesis. The song was written by Tony Banks, Phil Collins, and Mike Rutherford, with lyrics by Tony Banks. At ten minutes and sixteen seconds, is the longest song on the album. The melody of the chorus' first line is reminiscent of that of their earlier track "Ripples" from ''A Trick of the Tail'', and the song has a similar theme of relinquishing the past. The drum machine loop at the beginning of the song was sampled and used on the song "I Love You...I'll Kill You" by the musical project Enigma on their second album, ''The Cross of Changes'' (as they also sampled drums from the same Genesis album the song "Dreaming While You Sleep" for another song of the same album, " The Eyes of Truth"). Genesis (band)
Genesis are an English rock band formed at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, in 1967. The band's most commercially successful line-up consisted of keyboardist Tony Banks, bassist/guitarist Mike Rutherford and drummer/singer Phil Collins. The 1970s line-up, featuring singer Peter Gabriel and guitarist Steve Hackett, was among the pioneers of progressive rock. The group were formed by five Charterhouse pupils, including Banks, Rutherford, Gabriel, and Anthony Phillips, and named by former Charterhouse pupil Jonathan King, who arranged for them to record several singles and their debut album ''From Genesis to Revelation'' in 1968. After splitting from King, the band began touring, signed with Charisma Records and became a progressive rock band on ''Trespass'' (1970). The Eyes Of Truth
"The Eyes of Truth" is a 1994 song by German New age band Enigma, released as the second single from their second album, ''The Cross of Changes'' (1993). Similar with "Age of Loneliness", it featured samples of Mongolian Folk Music (most notably Alsyn Gazryn Zereglee (''Алсын газрын зэрэглээ'')) and samples taken from Anne Dudley's album ''Songs from the Victorious City''. It also contains samples from U2's song "Ultraviolet (Light My Way)", Peter Gabriel's "Kiss That Frog", NASA retransmissions sampled from "Mare Tranquillitatis" performed by Vangelis, and Genesis' "Dreaming While You Sleep". The accompanying music video for the song was recorded in the rural areas of Nepal. Bass Pedals
Bass pedals are an electronic musical instrument with a foot-operated pedal keyboard with a range of one or more octaves. The earliest bass pedals from the 1970s consisted of a pedalboard and analog synthesizer tone generation circuitry packaged together as a unit. The bass pedals are plugged into a bass amplifier or PA system so that their sound can be heard. Since the 1990s, bass pedals are usually MIDI controllers, which have to be connected to a MIDI-compatible computer, electronic synthesizer keyboard, or synth module to produce musical tones. Some 2010s-era bass pedals have both an onboard synth module and a MIDI output. Bass pedals serve the same function as the pedalboard on a pipe organ or an electric organ, and usually produce sounds in the bass range, which, in organ terminology is the 16′ stop. ''When in Rome 2007'' is a live DVD by British rock band Genesis recorded at Circus Maximus, Rome, Italy, on 14 July 2007, during the Turn It On Again Tour. The concert was directed by David Mallet. The collection was released on 26 May 2008 in most of the world and 10 June 2008 in North America. During its initial release in the United States, it was available exclusively via the band's website, or through Walmart and Sam's Club retail and online stores. Since November 2009, it has been available in regular outlets and online stores in the United States. A hi-definition release on Blu-ray and HD DVD was announced initially on the release of the corresponding CD ''Live over Europe 2007''. An HD DVD release did not happen due to the demise of the format, and the record company decided there was not a sufficient market for a Blu-ray release. The Way We Walk – Live In Concert
''The Way We Walk – Live in Concert'' is a 1993 live video from the '' We Can't Dance'' tour by Genesis. The footage was videotaped on 8 November 1992 at Earls Court in London, and first released on VHS in March 1993 as ''Genesis Live – The Way We Walk – In Concert''. It was also available on PAL format LaserDisc. In November 2001 the video was reissued on DVD. The songs on both the 1993 and 2001 releases are identical, although the concert on the 2001 DVD is split in half to accommodate the extra features. These include interviews, a feature-length commentary by the three band members ( Tony Banks, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford), multi-angle viewing options, and photo galleries. The Last Domino? Tour was a concert tour by English rock band Genesis, staged following the announcement of their reunion after a 13-year hiatus.
