Fabio Galante
Fabio Galante (born 20 November 1973) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a defender. He represented Italy at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Playing career Galante was born in Montecatini Terme, Province of Pistoia. He started his professional career for Serie C1 side Empoli F.C., then coached by Luciano Spalletti. He successively moved to Genoa C.F.C. in 1994, where he won the 1996 Anglo-Italian Cup. He then switched to Internazionale in 1996. With Internazionale, Galante played three seasons, mostly as a backup player, winning an UEFA Cup title in 1998. In 1999, he signed for Torino Calcio, initially on loan. Torino paid 5.1 billion lire to sign Galante permanently in June 2000, but at the same time selling half of the registration rights of Riccardo Fissore and Franco Semioli to Inter for 6 billion lire (Fissore was later bought back by Torino the following summer for 2 billion lire, meaning the club had acquired Fissore by paying Inter 1. ... Montecatini Terme
Montecatini Terme is an Italian municipality (''comune'') of c. 20,000 inhabitants in the province of Pistoia, Tuscany, central Italy. It is the most important center in Valdinievole. The town is located at the eastern end of Piana di Lucca and has a strong tourism industry, as well as industrial and commercial industries related to the spa, which in turn has increased the interest for hotel accommodation in the region. In 2021, the town became part of the transnational "Great Spa Towns of Europe" UNESCO World Heritage Site, because of its famous mineral springs and its architecture exemplifying the popularity of spa resorts in Europe during the 18th through 20th centuries. Franco Semioli (; born 20 June 1980) is an Italian football coach and former player. A midfielder, he played as a right winger. He was most recently head coach of Serie C club Novara. Club career Early years with Torino and Inter and loan spells Semioli, a Piedmontese, made his professional debut playing for local club Torino during the 1998–99 season. The 1996 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, which spanned two years (1994–96), had 44 entrants. After the quarter-finals stage, Spain were chosen as the hosts of the final stages, consisting of four matches in total. Italy U-21s won the competition for the third consecutive time. Format No fewer than 13 newly independent nations competed for the first time – due mainly to the fall of Socialist rule in Europe in the early 1990s. UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship
The UEFA European Under-21 Championship, the UEFA Under-21 Championship or simply the Euro Under-21, is a biennial football competition contested by the European men's under-21 national teams of the UEFA member associations. Since 1992, the competition also serves as the UEFA qualification tournament for the Summer Olympics. Italy and Spain are the most successful teams in this competition, having won five titles each. The Serie B (), currently named Serie Balkrishna Industries, BKT for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest division in the Italian football league system after the Serie A. It has been operating for over ninety years since the 1929–30 Serie B, 1929–30 season. 1997–98 UEFA Cup
The 1997–98 UEFA Cup was won by Internazionale in an all-Italian final against Lazio. It was their third title in eight years in the competition. It was the first instance of the UEFA Cup final being a one-game contest at a neutral stadium, having previously being decided over two legs with each team having one home game. For first time, one nation (France) was represented by seven teams: Strasbourg, Auxerre, Bastia, Nantes, Lyon, Bordeaux and Metz.
