FW De Klerk Foundation
The FW de Klerk Foundation is a nonpartisan organisation that was established in 1999 by former South African president Frederik Willem de Klerk. It promotes activities in "multi-community" countries and seeks to nurture the democracy of South Africa. Its foundational principles are based upon those of the South African constitution, multi-party democracy and free-market economics. It aims are to support and promote the constitution, promote unity in diversity, support charities that care for disabled and disadvantaged children and provide information on de Klerk's presidency. The Executive Director of the Foundation is Dr Theuns Eloff (as of 1 July 2016). Nonpartisan
Nonpartisanism is a lack of affiliation with, and a lack of bias towards, a political party. State President Of South Africa
The State President of the Republic of South Africa ( af, Staatspresident) was the head of state of South Africa from 1961 to 1994. The office was established when the country became a republic on 31 May 1961, albeit, outside the Commonwealth of Nations, and Queen Elizabeth II ceased to be Queen of South Africa. The position of Governor-General of South Africa was accordingly abolished. From 1961 to 1984, the post was largely ceremonial. Frederik Willem De Klerk
Frederik Willem de Klerk (, , 18 March 1936 – 11 November 2021) was a South African politician who served as state president of South Africa from 1989 to 1994 and as deputy president from 1994 to 1996 in the democratic government. As South Africa's last head of state from the era of white-minority rule, he and his government dismantled the apartheid system and introduced universal suffrage. Ideologically a conservative and an economic liberal, he led the National Party (NP) from 1989 to 1997. Born in Johannesburg to an influential Afrikaner family, de Klerk studied at Potchefstroom University before pursuing a career in law. Unity in diversity is used as an expression of harmony and unity between dissimilar individuals or groups. It is a concept of "unity without uniformity and diversity without fragmentation" that shifts focus from unity based on a mere tolerance of physical, cultural, linguistic, social, religious, political, ideological and/or psychological differences towards a more complex unity based on an understanding that difference enriches human interactions. Theuns Eloff (born 17 May 1955) is a South African, who is the ex-Executive Director of the FW de Klerk Foundation, an ex-Rector and an ex-Reconciler. Beginnings He was born on 17 May 1955 in Potchefstroom. He completed his school career at Potchefstroom Gimnasium. Western Cape Province
The Western Cape is a province of South Africa, situated on the south-western coast of the country.
