Mora is a urban areas of Sweden, locality and the seat of Mora Municipality, Sweden, Mora Municipality in Dalarna County, Sweden, with 10,896 inhabitants in 2010. History There are signs of human activity in the surroundings of Mora dating from 4000 BC. The earliest found buildings in Mora are from the 7th century. Some of the buildings can today be found in Mora's open-air museum ''Zorns gammelgård'' ("Zorn's old homestead"). Mora parish was established in the 13th century. In late 1520, Gustav Vasa stopped in Mora, in order to organize a rebellion against the Danish troops which occupied Sweden. Mora IK
Mora IK (or Mora Ishockeyklubb) is a Swedish professional ice hockey club from Mora in northern Dalarna. After failing the 2019 SHL qualifiers, Mora has been relegated for play in the second-tier league, HockeyAllsvenskan. Mora has previously played 25 seasons in the top tier, including four seasons in Elitserien (as the SHL was called at the time). The team has reached the finals of the Swedish Championships only once, in 1950, a match which they lost 7–2 to Djurgårdens IF. The 2007 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships (''2007 WJHC'') was the 2007 edition of the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship and was held in Mora and Leksand, Sweden between December 26, 2006 and January 5, 2007. The venues were FM Mattsson Arena in Mora, and Ejendals Arena in Leksand. The total attendance was a significant drop off from the 325,000-plus visitors at the previous World Juniors in British Columbia, Canada. For 2007, the tournament round-robin format was changed from previous years to resemble more closely the format used in the National Hockey League. Teams would receive three points for a win in regulation, while teams winning in overtime would receive two points. Teams losing in overtime would receive one point. Tegera Arena is an arena in Leksand, Sweden primarily used for ice hockey. It was opened in October 2005, and is the home arena of Leksands IF. It holds 7,650 people. History Construction of a new arena, replacing the former Leksands ishall from 1966, was announced on 27 April 2004. Construction began on 5 July the same year, and the first ice hockey game inside the arenas was played on 3 October 2005 when Leksands IF lost, 3–4, against Linköpings HC in the Swedish Hockey League. The arenas was officially inaugurated by County-Governor Ingrid Dahlberg of Dalarna on 11 November 2005. The arena hosted games during the 2007 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, together with FM Mattsson Arena in Mora. The following season, the 2007 4 Nations Cup was played at Tegera Arena. Leksand () is a locality and the seat of Leksand Municipality in Dalarna County, Sweden, with 5,934 inhabitants in 2010.
