FM Le Sieur
François Maurice Le Sieur is a Canadian musician and composer. He has been nominated for awards for television and film music in his native Canada, that include garnering seven Gemini award wins and seven additional nominations; one Genie award nomination; and three Jutra award nominations. Life and work He studied at Collège Marguerite-Bourgeoys and at McGill University, where he became inspired from a master class with Philip Glass. In the 1980s he was part of the rock band Tango Tango, before moving into television and film scoring. Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu () is a city in eastern Montérégie in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Quebec, about southeast of Montreal. Genie Awards
The Genie Awards were given out annually by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television to recognize the best of Canadian cinema from 1980–2012. They succeeded the Canadian Film Awards (1949–1978; also known as the "Etrog Awards," for sculptor Sorel Etrog, who designed the statuette). Genie Award candidates were selected from submissions made by the owners of Canadian films or their representatives, based on the criteria laid out in the ''Genie Rules and Regulations'' booklet which is distributed to Academy members and industry members. Peer-group juries, assembled from volunteer members of the Academy, meet to screen the submissions and select a group of nominees. Academy members then vote on these nominations. The Gemini Awards were awards given by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television between 1986–2011 to recognize the achievements of Canada's television industry. The Gemini Awards are analogous to the Emmy Awards given in the United States and the BAFTA Television Awards in the United Kingdom.
