Breton Liberation Front
The Breton Liberation Front ( br, Talbenn Dieubiñ Breizh, french: Front de Libération de la Bretagne or FLB) was a paramilitary organisation founded in 1963 whose aims were to seek greater autonomy for the region of Brittany (Breton language Breizh) separate from the rest of France. Brittany is a province in northwest France, and formed an independent Duchy of Brittany until the treaty of union in 1532. The group allegedly had strong allies with ETA (separatist group) as their struggles were almost the same. History Breton Nationalism had been a significant force in the early 20th century through the Breton National Party, but it has been discredited by its association with collaborationism in World War II. The FLB represented a new wave of nationalist politics associated with anti-colonialist ideology. The group claimed that Brittany was oppressed by France acting as a colonial power. Citizens of Brittany, or, Bretons, retain their own national identity including an independent ...

Faint Little Ball
Faint little ball (flb) is a ''Drosophila'' gene that encodes the ''Drosophila'' epidermal growth factor receptor (DER) homolog. The gene is also called ''torpedo'' and ''Ellipse''. The gene is located at 3-26 of the ''Drosophila melanogaster'' genome. It is named ''faint little ball'' because when the gene is mutated the embryo forms a ball of dorsal hypoderm. ''flb'' is necessary for several processes to occur during embryonic development, specifically in central nervous system development. It is expressed as quickly as 4 hours after fertilization of the egg. The peak of expression of the ''flb'' gene is between 4–8 hours into development. In all processes that are facilitated by ''flb'' the same signal transduction pathway is used. ''Drosophila'' EGF receptor is involved in the development of embryos as well as larvae/pupae's wings, eyes, legs and ovaries. Interactions Whether looking at development in embryos or larvae/pupae, DER relies on several ligands to carry out its f ...

Favourite-longshot Bias
In gambling and economics, the favourite-longshot bias is an observed phenomenon where on average, bettors tend to overvalue "longshots" and relatively undervalue favourites. That is, in a horse race where one horse is given odds of 2-to-1, and another 100-to-1, the true odds might for example be 1.5-to-1 and 300-to-1 respectively. Betting on the "longshot" is therefore a much worse proposition than betting on the favourite. In the long run, losing 5% by betting on the favourite, but losing 40% on longshots is not uncommon. Various theories exist to explain why people willingly bet on such losing propositions, such as risk-loving behavior, risk-averse behavior"We discount the chances of any party at 100/1 or bigger. The reverse of tweak 1 applies here. Almost all of these probably have effectively zero chance. Why don’t we just make them a bigger price? We don’t think we’ll take much extra money, certainly not enough to compensate us for the day we get it wrong." Matthew Shadwic ...

Flashlight Brown
Flashlight Brown is a Canadian punk rock band, originally from Guelph, who formed in 1996. Biography Bucchino, Conroy, Hughes, and Thomson formed a band, then simply called "Flashlight", out of boredom and frustration and quickly moved from the small college town of Guelph to the much larger Toronto, Ontario. At first, they were unable to get the attention of nightclub owners, so they devised a fictitious talent agency, called the Harry Wells Booking Agency, which would "represent" them. With the agency as their intermediate, they quickly gained enough recognition to go on tour. They began touring across Canada in a van. In 1997, they managed to release a self-titled debut album through the Quebec-based Stomp Records, which they would follow up with the ''Running Season'' LP two years later. During this time they also managed to film a video for their song "Sonia Bianchi", which received air time on Much Music. By 2001, the band had established a national touring schedule and ha ...

Fly Linhas Aéreas
Fly Linhas Aéreas was a Brazilian airline which operated between 1995 and 2003. History The airline began operations on August 25, 1995, with a Boeing 727-200 as a charter carrier linking Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo to holiday destinations in the northeast of Brazil. Originally it was a direct competitor of Air Vias, another Brazilian airline dedicated to charter flights. Eventually Fly became a carrier with both charter and scheduled low-cost operations. Though successful in its first years, it suffered a hard economic blow during the 1999 currency exchange devaluation crisis, and a great decrease in traffic, following a world trend, in the second semester of 2001. Those difficulties led to increasing administrative difficulties. The final blow came with increasing competition with Gol Airlines which led to the ceasing of operations in 2003. In late February 1950, representatives from syndicalist organizations from Gästrikland, northern Uppland, Älvdalen, as well as individuals from Stockholm, Västmanland and Härjedalen gathered to form a platform to contest municipal elections. Thus FKF emerged, formed outside of the SAC proper. The 'National Organization of Libertarian Municipal People' (''Frihetliga Kommunalfolkets Riksorganisation'') was founded on June 28, 1950. FKF won 51 seats in 16 municipalities in the 1950 municipal elections, becoming the largest party in Älvdalen with 10 seats. In 1959 FKF won three seats in Ekshärad municipality. General Aviation FLB
The General Aviation PJ was a flying boat produced in the United States in the 1930s as a search-and-rescue aircraft for the Coast Guard. Design Originally designated FLB (for "Flying Life Boat"), it was a conventional high-wing cantilever monoplane with a flying boat hull and outrigger pontoons mounted on the wings slightly outboard of mid-span. The twin pusher engines were carried in separate nacelles on pylons above the wings. The hull was a monocoque metal structure, and the wing was a wooden structure skinned with plywood. The basic design was based on that of the Fokker F.11, but substantially enlarged (Fokker's American operation was renamed General Aviation after purchase by General Motors in 1930). While not a true amphibian and able to land on dry land, the PJ was equipped with retractable undercarriage that functioned as its own, self-carrying beaching trolley. Five examples were operated by the US Coast Guard during the 1930s, named '' Antares'', '' Altair'', '' A ...
