The 2001 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships were held between January 17 to January 21 at the Whistler-Blackcomb ski resort in British Columbia near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Canada is a country in North America. The FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships is the world championship organized by the FIS for freestyle skiing. It was first organized in 1986 and is now held every odd year. Currently, the events included in the world championships are Moguls, Dual Moguls, Aerials, Ski cross, Slopestyle and Half-pipe. Formerly, Acroski and a combined event were held. Veronika Bauer
Veronika Bauer (born October 17, 1979 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian freestyle skier. Bauer competes in aerials, and made her World Cup debut in August 1997 at Mount Buller in Australia. Her first World Cup podium also came at that venue, two years later. Her first career World Cup win came in 2002, when she won an event at Lake Placid. Over her career, Bauer has placed on the podium at World Cup events 18 times, with four of these being victories. Her most successful season came in 2003, as she placed 3rd overall in the World Cup standings. That season saw her claim three of her four titles, two at Mt. Buller and one in Fernie. Aiko Uemura
is a Japanese freestyle skier. She participates in moguls and dual moguls. Her family moved to Hakuba town, Nagano Prefecture, Japan in 1986. She graduated from Hakuba High School in 1998, and works for the Kitano Construction Corporation in Nagano city, Japan.
