FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2015 – Men's Super Combined
The Men's super combined competition at the 2015 World Championships was held on Sunday, February 8. Marcel Hirscher won the gold medal, despite originally finishing in 31st position after the downhill leg. Ondřej Bank however, fell on the final jump and, although the original results had Bank in 25th place, the jury disqualified him after the run ended and as a result, Hirscher was able to start first in the slalom leg instead of starting after the top 30. With a clean track he was able to rise all the way from 30th to 1st. Kjetil Jansrud took silver for Norway after leading the downhill leg. Bronze medalist Ted Ligety commenting on the race conditions and result, said, "It was dumb luck. If I was a half-second faster in the downhill, I wouldn’t have been able to get a medal at all. Birds Of Prey (ski Course)
Birds of Prey is a World Cup downhill ski course in the western United States, located at Beaver Creek Resort in Avon, Colorado. The race course made its World Cup debut in December 1997. Beaver Creek is a traditional early December stop on the men's World Cup calendar. The course hosted the World Championships in 1999 and 2015, and is also used for super-G and giant slalom races. Prior to 1995, the World Cup speed events in North America were usually held in the latter part of the racing season. This course has hosted total of 65 men's World Cup events ( eighth all-time), and an additional three speed events in March 1988 were on "Centennial", the former speed course at Beaver Creek. Thomas Mermillod Blondin
Thomas Mermillod-Blondin (born 3 January 1984) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from France. Born in Annecy, Haute-Savoie, he primarily competed in super-G, but his best results were in the super combined event: he took five of his six World Cup podiums in combined, with the other coming in super-G. Mermillod-Blondin made his World Cup debut in 2007 and represented France at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and the 2011 World Championships. Andrew Weibrecht
Andrew Weibrecht (born February 10, 1986) is a World Cup alpine ski racer and two-time Olympic medalist from the United States. Born in Lake Placid, New York, he grew up racing at nearby Whiteface Mountain. Weibrecht races in all five disciplines and specializes in super-G; he attained his first World Cup podium in December 2015, finishing third in the super-G at Beaver Creek, Colorado. Steven Nyman
Steven Nyman (born February 12, 1982) is a World Cup alpine ski racer on the U.S. Ski Team. Formerly a slalom skier, he is now a speed specialist, with a main focus on downhill. Born in Provo, Utah, Nyman raced at Sundance as a junior until making a move to Park City in 1999. He was a discretionary pick for the 2002 World Junior Championships in Tarvisio, Italy, where he won the slalom and finished second in the combined. Adam Žampa (born 13 September 1990) is a Slovakian World Cup alpine ski racer. His best result so far is the 5th place in combined at the 2014 Winter Olympics. His brother is Andreas Žampa. Silvan Zurbriggen (born 15 August 1981) is a retired Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer who competed primarily in downhill and combined, and occasionally in super-G.
