Birds Of Prey (ski Course)
Birds of Prey is a World Cup downhill ski course in the western United States, located at Beaver Creek Resort in Avon, Colorado. The race course made its World Cup debut in December 1997. Beaver Creek is a traditional early December stop on the men's World Cup calendar. The course hosted the World Championships in 1999 and 2015, and is also used for super-G and giant slalom races. Prior to 1995, the World Cup speed events in North America were usually held in the latter part of the racing season. This course has hosted total of 65 men's World Cup events ( eighth all-time), and an additional three speed events in March 1988 were on "Centennial", the former speed course at Beaver Creek. Carlo Janka
Carlo Janka (born 15 October 1986) is a Swiss former alpine ski racer. Born in Obersaxen, in the canton of Graubünden, he had the winter sports facilities right in front of his home. Janka has won gold medals at both the Winter Olympics and the World Championships, as well as one World Cup overall title, one discipline title and also, one unofficial alpine combined title. In 2013, Janka set a World Cup speed record in the downhill part of the super combined event in Wengen, Switzerland. He reached a maximum speed of on the ''Haneggschuss'', the fastest section of the classic Lauberhorn slope, on 18 January. Philip Brown (born September 11, 1991) is a Canadian World Cup alpine ski racer specializing in slalom. Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, he represented Canada at two Winter Olympics and three World Championships. Phil turned "pro" and joined the dual format World Pro Ski Tour in 2018, winning the tour overall title in 2019. For the 2019/20 season Phil is currently racing full time on the World Pro Ski Tour sponsored by Surefoot. Stefan Luitz (; born 26 March 1992) is a German World Cup alpine ski racer. He primarily competes in giant slalom, but in January 2016 at Kitzbühel, Luitz completed both runs in slalom, a first in his World Cup career, and finished eighteenth. His only previous second run in slalom was more than three years earlier, in December 2012 at Madonna di Campiglio, where he failed to finish. Tommy Ford (born March 20, 1989) is a World Cup alpine ski racer from the United States. He specializes in giant slalom and super-G; his best World Cup result to date is a first-place finish at a giant slalom event in December 2019. He has represented the US in three Winter Olympics and five World Championships. Career Ford was on skis at age two, as his parents were racers and coaches. Raised in Bend, Oregon, he skied and raced at nearby Mount Bachelor and later attended Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, and has won eight titles at the U.S. Alpine Championships. During the 2013 season, Ford fractured his right femur in mid-January while free skiing in La Clusaz, France. Following surgery in Annecy, he returned to the U.S. and missed over two years, including the 2013 World Championships and 2014 Winter Olympics. Fritz Dopfer
Fritz Dopfer (; born 24 August 1987) is a German former World Cup alpine ski racer, specializing in the technical events of giant slalom and slalom. Born in Innsbruck, Austria, to a German father and an Austrian mother, the family lived in both countries during his youth. They lived in Schongau, Bavaria, in Germany until Dopfer was age 10, when the family moved to Tyrol in Austria. Dopfer raced for Austria through April 2007, then joined the German team that summer and made his World Cup debut in October 2007. During his first three seasons on the German team, he raced primarily on the European Cup circuit, with several World Cup starts per season, but no results. He moved up to the World Cup team for the 2011 season, and attained his first World Cup podium (and first top ten) in December 2011 in a giant slalom at Beaver Creek, Colorado.
