Planai
Planai is a ski area in central Austria, the main mountain in the Schladming area in Styria. It is one of four adjoining mountains, which includes Hauser Kaibling, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm, connected under the name Schladminger 4-Berge-Schaukel. It is not regarded as a single mountain and all text from the official website cites the total amount of pistes. Planai was the host venue of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 2013, held in early February. Schladming previously hosted alpine skiing's major biennial event in 1982, with the men's events at Planai and the women's at Haus im Ennstal. Elisabeth Görgl
Elisabeth Görgl (born 20 February 1981) is a retired World Cup alpine ski racer from Austria. Born in Bruck an der Mur, Styria, Görgl made her World Cup debut in March 2000 and has reached World Cup podiums in all five alpine disciplines, with multiple victories in giant slalom, Super-G, and downhill. In January 2008, she won her first World Cup race in the giant slalom at Maribor, Slovenia. At the 2009 World Championships at Val d'Isère, Görgl won a bronze medal in super combined. In 2011 at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, she won two gold medals, the first in the Super-G and a second in the downhill five days later. Her sweep of the two women's speed events marked the third consecutive occurrence at the World Championships – preceded by Lindsey Vonn in 2009 at Val d'Isere and Anja Pärson in 2007 at Åre. Edit Miklós (born 31 March 1988) is a Hungarian-Romanian former World Cup alpine ski racer, a specialist in the speed events of Downhill and Super-G. Since 2002, she has trained in Austria. Career Born in Miercurea Ciuc, Romania, into an ethnic Hungarian family, Miklós began skiing at age five. By the age of 12, she participated in World Cup races for children, and made her World Cup debut in December 2005 at age 17. She got injured just before the 2006 Winter Olympics thus she had to miss the Games, while in Vancouver in 2010 she fell in the downhill and suffered injuries that kept her away from skiing for three months. The following year, Miklós finished 18th in both the downhill and super-G at the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isère. Sofia Goggia (; born 15 November 1992) is an Italian World Cup alpine ski racer who competes in all disciplines and specialises in the speed events of downhill and super-G. She is a two-time Olympic downhill medalist — gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics, the first one for an Italian woman — and three-time World Cup downhill title winner (2018, 2021, 2022). Lotte Smiseth Sejersted (born 5 March 1991) is a former Norwegian alpine skier. She won a silver medal at the 2009 Junior World Alpine Skiing Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in the downhill event. She took another two medals at the 2010 World Junior Championships: a silver in the combined and a bronze in the downhill. In 2011, she won gold in the downhill at the Junior World Alpine Skiing Championships in Crans Montana. She made her World Cup debut in October 2009 in Sölden, but was disqualified. The same happened in two races in Åre in mid-December 2009, before she collected her first World Cup points with a 28th place in the super combined event in Val-d'Isère. Marianne Kaufmann-Abderhalden (born 1 April 1986) is a retired World Cup alpine ski racer from Switzerland. Born in Grabs, St. Gallen, she made her World Cup debut in Åre, Sweden, in March 2006. She won the gold medal in the downhill at the 2006 Junior World Ski Championships. Kaufmann-Abderhalden has attained five World Cup podiums, all in downhill. Ilka Štuhec (born 26 October 1990) is a Slovenian World Cup alpine ski racer, focusing on the speed events of downhill and super-G. She was a three-time junior world champion in three different disciplines, and was the world champion in downhill in 2017 and 2019. Alice McKennis Duran (born August 18, 1989) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from the United States. She specializes in the speed events of downhill and Super-G. Born in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, McKennis grew up on a ranch west of town, near New Castle. She learned to ski and race at nearby Sunlight Ski Area and after racing for various major clubs in the state, finished at Rowmark ski academy in Salt Lake City, Utah. She made her World Cup debut in December 2008, but spent the 2009 season on the Nor-Am circuit.
