Super Giant Slalom Skiing
Super giant slalom, or super-G, is a racing discipline of alpine skiing. Along with the faster Downhill (ski competition), downhill, it is regarded as a "speed" event, in contrast to the technical events giant slalom and slalom skiing, slalom. It debuted as an official FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, World Cup event during the 1983 Alpine Skiing World Cup, 1983 season and was added to the official schedule of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, World Championships in FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 1987, 1987 and the Alpine skiing at the Winter Olympics, Winter Olympics in Alpine skiing at the 1988 Winter Olympics, 1988. Much like downhill, a super-G course consists of widely set gates that racers must pass through. Aleš Gorza (born 20 July 1980) is a retired Slovenian alpine skier. Gorza represented Slovenia at the 2006 Winter Olympics. His World Cup debut was on 21 December 2001 in Kranjska Gora. Edward Drake (skier)
Edward "Ed" Drake (born 12 January 1986) is a British former alpine skier and ski cross racer. He started competing internationally at the age of 12 for the British Children's Ski Team. He represented Great Britain at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver where he took part in the men's downhill, super-G, giant slalom and combined despite partially tearing his anterior cruciate ligament shortly before the Games. Drake is a four-time British champion winning the giant slalom and combined in 2008 and 2009. In 2013 he switched from alpine skiing to ski cross after competing in his first ski cross event, a World Cup competition in Megève, in January of that year when an alpine FIS race he was planning to enter was cancelled. He narrowly missed out on qualifying for the ski cross competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. In May 2016 Drake announced his retirement from racing. Douglas Crawford (skier)
George Douglas Crawford (1 November 1939 – 17 April 2002) was a Scottish politician and journalist who served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Perth and East Perthshire from 1974 to 1979. Crawford was educated at Glasgow Academy and St Catharine's College, Cambridge, before working as a journalist in London. He was an Industrial Correspondent for the Glasgow Herald newspaper from 1963 to 1966, and then worked as Head of Publications for the Scottish Council for Development and Industry. A convinced believer in the benefits of Scottish independence, he worked unofficially as an adviser and researcher to Winnie Ewing whilst she was the sole Scottish National Party parliamentarian from 1967 till 1970. Andrej "Jerry" Jerman, (born 30 September 1978), is a recently retired World Cup alpine ski racer from Slovenia. Born in Tržič, then in SFR Yugoslavia, Jerman specialized in the speed events of downhill and super G. He gained his first World Cup victory at Garmisch-Partenkirchen in February 2007 in a downhill, the first-ever for Slovenia. The next day he finished second, again in the downhill. Until then, his best World Cup result was fourth place in a downhill at Bormio, two months earlier. Jerman later gathered his second victory at Bormio, and finished his career with four World Cup podiums, all in downhill, and 27 top tens, with 18 in downhill. Stephan Keppler
Stephan Keppler (born February 1, 1983 in Innsbruck) is a German alpine skier. Keppler grew up in Albstadt, a town on the Swabian Alb, in Baden-Württemberg. He learned skiing at his local winter sports club, WSV, of Ebingen. As an adult, he joined the Bundeswehr, the German military, as an army-sponsored athlete (German: "Sportsoldat"). In 1999, he took part in his first FIS races. In the same season, he won the German youth championship in the slalom, in 2003 in the giant slalom and Super G competitions. Since 2003, Keppler has been starting in races of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, with his debut at Garmisch on February 22. Natko Zrnčić-Dim (; born 7 March 1986) is a Croatian alpine ski coach and retired World Cup skier. He won a bronze medal in super combined at the World Championships in 2009 at Val-d'Isère, France, and is a member of SK Medveščak. Born in Zagreb, SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia, Zrnčić-Dim's best World Cup result is second place in a super combined, achieved on 30 January 2011 in Chamonix, France. Compatriot Ivica Kostelić won that race, his seventh of the month, and marked the first time that Croatians finished first and second in a World Cup race.
