FIFA U-17 World Championship 2005
The 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship, the eleventh edition of the tournament, was held in the cities of Lima, Trujillo, Chiclayo, Piura and Iquitos in Peru between 16 September and 2 October 2005. Players born after 1 January 1988 could participate in this tournament. Mexico beat favorite Brazil by 3–0 in the final, making it the first U-17 Championship for Mexico. Venues Teams * USA is the only team to have qualified for all 11 tournaments so far, followed by Brazil and Australia who have each qualified 10 times. While Netherlands, Turkey, Peru, Gambia and Korea DPR are new to the competition. Carlos Alberto Vela Garrido (born 1 March 1989) is a Mexican professional footballer who captains and plays for Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC. Described as a versatile player who can play as a forward, winger, and attacking midfielder, he is known for being a creative player and prolific scorer. Estadio Mansiche is the biggest stadium of the city of Trujillo and the home of the most important football clubs in the city, Carlos A. Mannucci and Universidad César Vallejo. 2005 OFC Under 17 Tournament
The 2005 OFC Under-17 Tournament was an association football competition in Oceania. It was the 11th edition of the OFC Under 17 Qualifying Tournament, Nine teams participated in the tournament. The winning side qualified for the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Peru. Australia won their tenth (and fourth consecutive) title after beating Vanuatu 1–0 in the final. This also marked Australia's final participation (and championship) in an OFC U-17 men's event as they would become members of the AFC starting the next year (2006).
